I have a 27" and I'll be going back to 24" soon since I sit behind a desk relatively close to the monitor. I guess it's personal preference but I haven't found any real benefit of using a larger screen, I sometimes feel like it even works against me because there's more field of view I have to cover/process. So yeah, my answer is 24", that should work just fine. Unless you're sitting further away, then I guess a larger screen could be beneficial.

I was fine with a 27 last year. Bought a 32 inch 4k to use with next gen and it was an adjustment. All depends on how close you are. I'm near sighted and would rather be close on a 24 then 8 feet back on a 75 inch oled

I am playing on an Xbox one, would I be able to tell a difference going from 144hz to 240hz although the Xbox output is 60hz?

No, you already gave the answer yourself. 240hz is useless for console gaming.

That's what I thought. Figured I'd ask just to be sure...
I read that although the output is 60, playing on a 240 monitor does make a "big difference".

Even the new consoles only do 120hz so you are good even if you upgrade your console. I do pc gaming on monitor too which can utilize the 240hz.

Nah there's just one guy who claimed this and he created a thread on this forum, but he's clueless about what he's talking about. Everything he said is purely subjective and based on his own experience, because the actual facts and science behind it contradict everything he said. So don't believe everything you read. You can do some research on this yourself and you'll find that what I said is true and what he said is not.

I started playing my PS4 on a 240hz the other day and all I can say is I'm hitting much better in RS , reaction time has increased now that's on AS - when I get on HOF I shall know for sure if there's a difference should be there so.

    I agree - I had a 24, moved to 27 and it's too much.

The question I have is why no matter what size I use is there always a black border around the screen instead of the game filling the screen?

Monitor size is relative to your resolution than anything. If you are using 4k you want at least 28 in, 32 is the sweet spot. 1080 you probably don't want more than 24.5. at 27 it will start looking pixelated. Now if you have the opportunity to use 1440p, the ideal gaming resolution, thanks Sony for leaving us out, 27 and 28in is the sweet spot
