Hitting with directional

I am with you clancaster. I am on the Xbox and was really looking fwd to playing a real baseball game. So far it has been fun as I play directional on beginner ( I suck and dont have all day to get better and I refuse to use PCI as being older I dont have the reflexes needed nor time to sink). Until recently I was used to getting at least 1 if not 2 hits a game (yes I was batting over 400 in the majors but again it is fun for me) however since the last update I cant buy a hit. I hit in the green good spot (I think I have hit perfect maybe twice in my entire career which spans 1 season in the minors and 1 in the majors, again I am terrible) however all of my hits are just lazy flys to the LF or even some occasional liners to the LF. I typically am aiming in the upper left direction or straight pulling and swing with the A button for normal as that has worked since day 1.
Now I am having to go more to contact and that isnt working either (don't get me started on power unless I want to hit a pop up to the catcher). Not sure why they had to tweak beginner in such a way that now I just no longer want to play. And I was hoping to progress to dynamic in my next season but now I am thinking of uninstalling. I hope they fix it
Are you first pitch swinging ?? I only ask cause my brother was having the same issue I watched him play and he was, taking the first pitch 90% of the time will prevent high pops
-
Actually yes, although many times I just foul it off and then Ill hit the second or third pitch. I think I have had a total of 1 maybe 2 balls go by in my career as I typically am hitting in the first couple of pitches. I can try and take the first pitch for test purposes however that would be a change into how I have been approaching the plate.
-
I have been trying to avoid swinging at the first pitch. About 80% of the time I do. I also aim upper left. I think if I just pull straight up I get too many popups. At least if I'm trying to pull I get a little more of a chance of doing something. Still, most is either a fly out or even a soft ground out. Game decides what happens regardless of the timing. I also have only hit a "prefect" timing swing maybe twice.
-
On directional it's extremely rare to get a perfect timing hit.
I would just suggest using guess pitch, quadrant, and point the directional straight up.
-
Tried playing around with taking the first pitch and not really any noticeable difference. Still can't get a perfect swing (I think its [censored] near impossible for me) however I do still get plenty of "good" swings in the green. Perhaps Ill wait for whenever the next patch is and maybe they will tweak it, also noticed that I am not getting as much XP per game, shame as I dont play DD.

I have had the hardest time hitting this year my player has 91 contact and 80 pwr and even when I get it inside the circle it’s straight to the outfielder or a ground out. I just don’t know what to do to make my hitting better I should at least be hitting high 200 but nope batting 186. The hitting this year is horrible.

You the none hitting this year makes sense. We got what 6 no hitters so far. So they are just keeping it realistic.

Maybe experiment with swing animation

Is it not possible to hit at a decent clip using directional hitting?
I cannot use zone. I don't have the coordination with the stick to try to tell if a pitch is going to be in the strike zone and at the same time move the pci thingy is the same area to hit it. So I am forced to use directional. I'm playing on all-star. I've only been playing rtts. I initially started being a switch hitter which I think now is a mistake because I think I may be a lot better hitting righty but the majority of my ab's are obviously against righties so I'm hitting lefty most of the time. (Is there a way to change this?) I'm very rarely using power swing. Maybe once every 50 AB's. I'm almost exclusively normal swing. My players ratings are as follows: 83 overall in AAA, second season. With perks and equipment I have Con-89 Pow-64 Vis-88 Disc-55 Clt-60.
When I was in AA, I did pretty well. Not sure how to see previous season stats but I know I was a bit over .300 about half way through the year when I got moved to AAA. I hit a brick wall then. I mingled right around .200 through the rest of that year and my whole first year of AAA. Now in my third minor league season I'm at a hefty .176 (12-68) 17 games in. I have 11 k's which I don't think is terrible but I rarely walk. My biggest problem is just about everything I hit regardless of the timing. So I guess I'm looking for some tips on how to get more hits. Or is it hopeless to be decent using directional hitting and I need to either lower the difficulty (don't want to) or just not play at all? This is driving me nuts cause it feels like I should be doing better but the game is holding me back.
I would suggest playing around with different settings in practice mode to find what’s right for you. Start out simple with just fastballs and gradually add different pitches over time. When mixing in more pitches, start with two pitch combos at first, (ie. fastball/change up, fastball/curveball, etc.) before moving to three or more pitch types at a time. Give zone hitting another try and try these different techniques out. Instead of starting the PCI in the middle, start it up and in. Starting there will give you more time to get around on the fastball in that location, and you will have more time to move to other locations and adjust to off speed pitches. Another technique you can try is starting with the PCI up in the zone on the side of the pitcher’s throwing arm. This will allow you to track the ball with your eyes and thumb simultaneously from the pitcher’s release point. Another technique to try, if you have a tendency to involuntarily move the PCI downward all the time (which a lot of players do), you can start the PCI low in the zone and adjust from there when the pitch is higher. This will force you to go against your natural tendency to move down since you’re already there. The third technique is probably the best place to start if you find that you have that tendency to always move down. After doing that for a few games and you feel comfortable enough that you think you’ve broken the habit, try one of the other two, starting with the up and in technique and moving to the release point technique if you’re still having trouble tracking the ball. Personally I like the up and in technique on zone hitting and I swing with analog stride instead of buttons (you can use the face buttons pre-pitch to choose a power swing or contact swing) and I find it to be the most effective, but like I said earlier just play around with settings and techniques in practice mode to find what works for you, starting with just the fastballs and gradually adding more pitch diversity as you get more comfortable. And start off with strikes only or even just one particular part of the strike zone if you need to. Don’t be afraid or feel ashamed to dumb it down for yourself for a little bit. Treat it like real life hitting and just put the time in inside the “hitting cage”, so to speak. When I was playing real baseball and got into a slump, I would sometimes dumb it way down and just hit off a tee and work on the basics of hitting. Dumbing it down in practice clears your head and builds confidence. You definitely have the coordination to do it or you wouldn’t be gaming, you just need to fine tune your skills and there’s nothing wrong with recognizing that. Good luck, hope that helps.

Guess I should breakdown my approach more.
I hunt the fastball if it's the primary or 1st secondary pitch in the lower quadrant.
I hunt the Sinker/Splitter if it's the primary pitch in the lower quadrant.Pitcher shakes their head trumps all. That's when you look for the fastball in the upper quadrant.
Seems like you had some success hitting two homers in a game. Congrats.
What do you do if you guess wrong do you swing or wait till u guess or two strikes
