Shutouts all that matters? Give me a break. He doesn't walk batters AND have you checked the Quality Starts category? That is what really matters. Hendo again is only 2nd in the entire MLB with 16 quality starts behind W. Buehler. You know what complete games do? Wear a pitcher out and ruin his longevity. And the live Series goes off how the current player is doing at the time. Look at Hendricks last 15 starts. 11-0 with a 2.78 ERA.
Live Series is based on the last 3 seasons, with the current season being the last of the 3.
Still doesnt explain how he is going down. How is he going down?

He allows 9.7 hits every 9 innings. He only strikes out 17.2% of batters he faces. His BB/9 is elite, and he still has a WHIP of 1.275. He pitches in arguably the least competitive division in the league.
Contact pitchers don't get rewarded by SDS' attributes rating system. Strikeout pitchers do. It's the only explanation for why Ryu hasn't gone diamond, either.
Stamina, Durability, and BB/9 attributes getting a boost aren't gonna be enough to upgrade a pitcher.

138 hits (only 3.7 ERA) and still has 13 wins and only 4 losses? What does that tell you!? Pitching clutch much? Now if you cant agree he should go up, tell how he is going down and Alzolay is higher rated. The should at least switch the two.
He's given up more hits than innings pitched. His team averags almost 5.5 runs per game for him. He's not even top ten in any category except for Wins and Starts. We can quibble over what his ranking should be on DD but pointing at his win totals isn't the way to do it.

Haha. Now we've strayed into pointing to Quality Starts.

Also has a 4.66 FIP and a 1.275 WHIP. The worst he has ever had. Pitchers dont win games. Teams do. There is no attribute that looks at pitchers W/L. A pitcher with a 5-15 record and a 2.25 ERA is a WAY better pitcher than a pitcher with a 15-5 record and a 3.50 ERA (ask deGrom in years past).
Also I think Hendricks leads the league in the most hits given up. Thats not a good thing.
While true, they use to base the Cy Young award on wins. One reason Nolan Ryan never won the Cy Young.

WHIP, FIP, and pretty much every other pitching metric > using W/L record to assess a pitcher's production like it's still 1986
Well if I see a pitcher was 22-3 for an entire season and see no other stats, I am going out on a limb and say he is good.
-
Above average pitcher + good team + run support + good bullpen + luck = 22-3 record too.

In RL though, I would rather have Hendricks pitch than 95% of the rest of the league. Regardless of the stats used, he should be at least silver and should not have went down. Speaking of which, how do they come up with OVR anyway? I see players with not a single stat/skill over their OVR sometimes.

While that is in the realm of possibility, it is unlikely. So I would take that pitcher sight unseen.

Also, how did you get that this pitcher is above average if wins mean nothing? To get a win you have to pitch at least 5 innings with your team ahead when you leave the game (if a starter). It isn't the best stat, but it does mean something.
-
As much as I agree what OP said that pitchers win you games. Ultimately. You can have a perfect game every game but still need the team to put up a run. So. They’re right, it’s a team thing for Win/Loss

Explain yesterday then. Not really a good team anymore, only gave up 1 run, and bullpen almost blew it for him. Just saying. Now look at how Alzolay is doing against same team (Nats). Dude walked the bases loaded (thankfully only 1 run scored) and has given up 4 runs. No way you can make the argument Alzolay should be ranked higher than Hendricks.
-
Explain yesterday then. Hendricks only gave up 1 run with only 1 walk through 7 innings on 4 hits. Alzolay today has given up 4 runs and 6 walks (including walking the bases loaded) through 5 innings on 7 hits. Just compare their last 15 games pitched. There is no way you can make the argument Alzolay should be rated higher than Hendricks! Hendricks is at least a 78-80.

Welcome to the forum, Kyle. It’s nice to have a pro player on a forum like this. How do you feel about all the trades ?

Quality starts? 16 is 2nd in the entire MLB.

That is where the quality starts category comes into play. A stat used to measure whether you put your team in a position to win or not by pitching at least 6 innings and giving up 3 runs or less.
From mlb.com glossary: A starting pitcher records a quality start when he pitches at least six innings and allows three earned runs or fewer. A starting pitcher has two jobs: to prevent runs and get outs. The quality start statistic helps to quantify which pitchers did a "quality" job in those two departments. As I said above. Hendricks is 2nd in the MLB with 16 QS -
Hendricks is my guy, and I'm going to use him regardless. I would have like a POTM card for June, but no dice. I'm just getting aggravated that they keep on lowering him. It really is bogus considering there is no reason for it with how well he is pitching. They have lowered him 3 times now this year? GTFO. Give him back his original 79 rating.
-
I don’t understand how they keep dropping him down lower especially since he hasn’t recorded a loss in his last 15 games . How does that deserve a downgrade

What's so hard to understand about WIN-LOSS RECORD NOT FACTORING INTO ATTRIBUTES?!
It's based on h/9, k/9, hr/9, w/9, etc., and skews heavily towards h/9 and k/9 (I think).
Ultimately it's SDS's secret sauce, sort of like the Harvard admissions formula. Maybe we can sue to get them to reveal the formula, like what happened to Harvard...?

I could pitch and have an ERA of 16.34 but have Bonds, Ortiz, Chipper in front of me and we win every game 20-15. That’s why.
