So every one likes to loosely refer to RS as online and Conquest, for example, as not online. The latency/lag that effect one won't effect the other.
But explain, 'cause I dunno, why you can't play Conquest when the servers are down. Explain why Conquest used to time out when the servers were going bad. I still get lock ups on occasion when I exit a Conquest game.
So, to me, that means at some level all of DD is "online". And would suffer the same effects.
If someone knows and can explain it I would sure love to hear it. Don't pull any punches I know the difference between latency, jitter, and ping. I got at least a novice understanding of how networks work. So, someone that really knows and cares enough to share lay it out, at whatever "difficulty level" you got.
Might help a lot understand the underpinnings and effects between online and, I suppose, offline play.

It's because you get rewards for playing and the rewards are tied to having to be online.

I’m pretty old but I don’t read magazines or watch the E network.
Anyway youre online in conquest but you don’t connect through Xbox live and it’s not peer to peer so you don’t have to worry about packets being sent and lost. I don’t have Xbox live right now but I can play all offline modes and use marketplace.

The lag/latency only effects head to head because one of the systems acts as the host.
Conquest and "offline" DD plays on your local system.
Both require a connection to SDS servers to validate stats, etc. (This prevents running local memory hacks)

It's called multi-tasking. Try it..I've even played Demons Souls, Village, and Returnal (takes some getting used to that one) in the last week.
FIFA blew like Linda Lovelace milking Johnny Wad today though. Was in a SB game trying to score an objective for Atal (CM from Ligue 1). Needed 3 outside the box shots (which ain't no picnic) on World Class. Actually had 2 of them and the server disconnected me. Not only did I not get credit for the 2 goals..I lost the game 3-0. Which I was winning 5-0 when the DC happened.
So, I spent a whole lot of time on the EA forum chatting that one up. Now I'm back here again. Glad you noticed my absence. Missed u 2.
