I'll just quietly break sh*t in my house and keep to myself and move on to the next one. But I have no doubt my quit is a rage quit.

This too ^^^^ At least you’re the only one who knows.

To me it’s simple, if you dashboard you’re rage quitting. Any other form of quitting out whether it’s a FQ or simple quit through the pause menu are you just resigning yourself to the superiority of the opponent your playing in that game which is completely acceptable. But you’re gonna be labeled a rage quitter if you stoop to the level of dashboarding which is intentional toxic behavior than you get to wear that the rage quit collar

Yes.... the guys rage quitting during a play so it won't count is being a poor sport. Just let the ball land, register, and then quit through the menu like a normal person.

I’ve noticed a lot of qualified psychologists around here lately telling people how to handle themselves while playing.

I personally think throwing and breaking stuff and sending hate messages counts as actual rage while saying “that’s f*cking stupid” to the same 91 mph exit velo home run your opponent hits that was a line out for you isn’t raging but yet some people here would say that’s childish and we need to grow up and realize it’s just a game.

I would say your first example is raging. The second example is childishness caused by not understanding one’s own perceptual bias.

As far as “qualified psychologists” go, even they are not qualified to diagnose people from a distance. The subject needs to be personally examined. It’s the Goldwater rule, Referring to 1964 presidential candidate Barry Goldwater.

That said, I would have no problem diagnosing from afar if there are undeniable and obvious symptoms, like if there was a public figure whose behavior was textbook malignant narcissism with severe mental impairment. Hey, 45 is a fun number.

I don't always agree with you however on this one you are spot on.

Dashboarding isn’t a rage quit, it’s a middle finger to the opponent on the way out.

By the amount of threads here upset about being dashboarded, I would equate them more with rage inducing quits.

I honestly went through 3 controllers and my PS4 disc drive from 2020. I can still play digitally, but learned my lesson. LOL. Secondly, I think it was being quarantined for 5 months and that stupid pandemic had a lot to do with it.

If people are breaking things like little children over a video game, maybe time to put the controller down and go seek some professional help. If you get that mad over a video game, you have something more wrong than you might think.

The term "rage quit" incorrectly implies that I care enough about wins and losses in a video game to be angry when things don't go my way.

If I quit early, I'm really just saying "You're a better player than me so there's no sense in prolonging this when we both know how it will end. Enjoy the easy win." Sometimes I'll even message my opponent a compliment if I was particularly impressed with how thoroughly they thrashed me.

Hell yea I rage. It’s my money and I’ll break what I want. It’s not hurting anyone else. Judge away

I had, and occasionally still have my over the top raging moments. Yelling, not throwing, but it’s more of an unresolved personal issues thing than a gaming thing for sure. Not proud of those moments. Getting better with age and understanding where this anger comes from.
