Are created players worth it?

I created a catcher but even at 89 and being a switch hitter is it even worth it when we got other options that are higher than 89 overall?

My CAP catcher last year was pretty [censored] good with diamond equipment. It was probably a 97+ OVR card last year with the equipment. And a SS to boot.
