So in your mind , in the history of baseball , every single time a player has made good contact or perfect contact , they have gotten a hit ?

I don’t think the game is bad . I think it just needs a good patch . I think hitting and pitching are terrible right now , but People get so obsessed with there contact and pci placement. Baseball is a game where even the best players in the world fail 7 out of 10 times at the dish . You should NOT get a hit or HR every time you get “good-good” or “perfect-good “ or whatever . This is a SIM game , not arcade . The only thing that would be worse then the state of the game right now , would be if every “good-good” got you a hit . Jesus every game would be 23-27 with 35 hits a side and take 2 hours to do . Yes the game should reward good contact but it should be rewarding it 25-35% of the time .
I completely disagree with this. The reason MLB players fail 7 out of 10 times is because they don't get "good good" with their swing. If they got "good good" every time they would do significantly better than a hit every 3 out of 10 at-bats. MLB players fail 70% of the time because they either mess up their timing or they don't square up the baseball. However when a hitter squares up a 96 mph pitch it NEVER leaves the bat at 85 mph.
Stop with “real baseball”
This is a video game of controller SKILL. And In order to have SKILL one must place the pci accurately on the ball with good timing. The players that do that with the controller MORE SHOULD HAVE MORE SUCCESS. Period end of discussion. You want a sim. Go play offline. This is competitive gaming. Well it’s not. It’s a random hunk of trash.
The person making better inputs should win 100% of the time. No if ands buts about it. That is in fact THE POINT OF THE GAME. Not to make you feel like you are Ozzie albies.

Of course skill should play a big roll, but it’s not as black and white as you’re making it out to be.... Player stats must play a roll, otherwise think how ridiculous the game would play, it would be a base hit or home run simulator... It wouldn’t make a difference if you’re batting with Griffey or some scrub player... Pitching needs to be improved, start there so random meatballs aren’t being served up, then adjust hitting to make it balanced....

One day you'll learn that this is a simulation based game so statical norms will be implemented regardless of how much complaining is done. It's a game for profit above all, just like every other game that is made.
There's no profit in a game that is 100% user skill based, people that aren't good at the game would have no incentive to play or but stubs. The cards do have to matter to an extent.
My frustration lies in the fact that pitching has been neutered the last two years when hitting was finally opened up enough to counter good pitching. Now hitting dominates pitching because of the RNG applied to pitch location.
17 the PCI couldn't move around enough to cover the edges of the zone and people had trouble with fastballs. 18 they drastically reduced pitch speeds but by design flaw the lower part of the zone could be peppered with off speed aka "Suttering" the zone.
Last year they implemented the penalty system for over using secondary pitches. It's carried over again to this year and pitching RNG is at its worst. There's no indication when it's a bad idea to throw a pitch again. Pitching is just a frustrating experience. The outlier perk is the only chance for an equivalizer.
What happened to the game we played during the Beta? Check swings were strikes more. There were swings and misses in the zone. Pitching felt rewarding and controllable. I'll take that game back please

I’m not asking for 100% user skill. I’m asking that when Freddie Freeman squares up perfect perfect on a ball it’s not to the defense. I’m asking that when aaron judge gets a meatball 3-2 with the bases loaded and I’m good squared it’s not an out. Fine. Implement attributes. They sold this game to the veteran players saying SKILL WOULD MATTER. It doesn’t right now. 2 outs get out of an inning and a weak fly to Mike trout falls out of his glove. I mean these terrible random gameplay issues happen every game. Middle mistakes on perfect meters consistent lineouts. Silly errors. Save that nonsense for offline play there is no place for that garbage CONSISTENTLY in h2h
-
No one is saying the player attributes should t play into it. Obviously a perfect fly ball with your pitcher shouldn’t be a hit every time. What we mean is that if you have granderson, get a perfect feedback, then 8/10 it should be a hit. Your arguing as if every at bat is a perfect hit.... if you hit 10 perfect , you likely had 40+ at bats where you didn’t. So in theory your argument is moot because the averages would work themselves out even with feedback being like it was before.
All I do is hit line outs and warning track shots on balls that were falling pre patch ( mostly, obviously some will still be outs) the worst part is that I find my early ok or late ok hits seem to fly out the park or are a stroke in the gap or down the line..... that’s ok but perfect isn’t?

According to Major League Baseball the batting average on barrelled balls is .800...
Also per MLB only 5% of all plate appearances are barreled up and goes up slightly to 7% for all balls that end in play. The very best hitters are around 10%. 150 at bats leads to 15 barrels .... the hardest thing to do in any sport is hit a round ball with a round bat square.
A lot of balls that are smoked go right to someone... it evens out when you get those Texas leaguers that bloop into no mans land
So in order to change that we butcher the game mechanics so that we can pretend the player using the controller is not actually doing what he’s doing and force outcomes? Yea no place for that in h2h

Make the input harder then, don’t change what happens when the input is good because of “realism”
This. Make it extremely hard to hit.

Yep, attributes should increase the percentage of good contact being a hit/HR. So attributes SHOULD matter, it shouldn't just be one of those things where you square up the ball with anyone and it leaves the yard, but if my guy has 80+ power and I get perfect perfect fly ball it should leave the yard at least 90% of the time, probably 100%

The point that people are trying to make is that when you square it up in game, you should get rewarded because MLB players get rewarded pretty often when they do. They don't get rewarded all the time, but have an .800 average. If they don't want the game to be an arcade, then it's the pitching that needs addressing. If the pitching gets changed, then it'll make it harder to square up a ball, and therefore make it more realistic.

I agree that the pitching needs to be fixed... my comments were to someone saying in the real world MLB players have a .800 avg on barreled balls.... no one, real or video game should be hitting .800 overall, lol.

No one would be hitting .800 if they made it significantly harder to square balls up. Even the best of the best wouldn’t be able to do it nearly as consistently especially if they were playing on legend.

A good hitter may fail 7 out of 10 like you say. But it is due to a good pitching and a good fielding defense. No because of a random incryted cpu. Every player in MLB is a good player. Thats why they are where they are. But no every gamer, is a good gamer. 2 way different things.
I think that atleast, every good good perfect or squared, swing should be at least a hard hit and a difficult fielding situation. No a random out like a weak ground ball or fly ball. No even a straight to the glove line or fly like it is often. -

Nah. I don’t mind losing at all. I just don’t like squaring up 12-15 balls for outs in 3-2 counts of counts I worked with diamond players - and then reverse the rolls dude stays alive 0-2 for 20 pitches until he eventually bloops a jammed late single, followed by a perfect meter slider called way outside that hangs directly down the middle to a player that SWINGS AT EVERY PITCH THATS THROWN. And all of a sudden I’m chasing a 2-0 deficit that was totally unearned.
This happens regularly. And it’s less likely on legend no doubt. But HOF AND BELOW? forget it.
Skill base this game or it won’t survive. We won’t be playing this game in the future if this is the road they continue to go down. It will die.
Just like every other game that took the competitiveness out of their competitive-natured game.
