In RL:A contact swing is a shortened/compact swing with the intent for max contact on any pitch thrown in any zone over the plate (max plate coverage).
A power swing is a longer/full swing with the intent for max power on a specific pitch thrown in a specific zone over the plate (minimal plate coverage).
A normal swing is basically combination of the two.
Note: For the same reason that some contact swings result in great exit velo, is why some power swings result in little exit velo --- physics.
So would a shorten/compact swing not be slower? If the bat is shorter —- physics—— says the arc is shorter and will generate less bat speed, hence less ball speed.
Well, the bat itself isn't shorter just their swing. You are correct though, they should have less bat speed with that approach but not a significant amount. There should still be the potential to hit a HR while contact swinging. The problem is it seems like there is a 5% decrease in power when it should be closer to 15-20 percent.

They have never said that contact swing is an issue they are looking at. Just because it is the pet peeve of some doesn't make it something that they will fix.

If they do decide to do something then it is probably much more complicated than the other issues you mentioned. Contact swing exists in every game mode, not just online, and it does not need changed in any other mode.
Contact swing is OP in every single game mode. RS, BR, events, moments, vs CPU. So yes it needs chamge in every single mode.
What you just said is that it is overpowered in every DD mode. What about franchise, or the early years of RTTS, or even March to October.
You know, modes where your team is not stacked with 90 plus contact guys with 100 power. A mode where you have to bat with the likes of Harrison Bader with his 46 contact and 52 power against righties. A contact swing could be handy for him when he is facing DeGrom. He certainly won't be hitting it out with a contact swing but it would be nice for him to get it out of the infield.
If they have not separated that mechanic (contact swings) so that they can adjust DD separate from Franchise, RTTS and March to October then it is probably not an easy fix. Just because the majority of us play DD almost exclusively does not mean we should disregard those who play the other modes.

Do you remember Kirk Gibson??? Probably not, my guess is you weren’t even born when Kirk Gibson took one of the ugliest swings a human has ever taken and sent that pitch into the Right field bleachers to walk off the Athletics in the 88 World Series against arguably one of the top 5 closers in MLB history. Guess what, that swing was a contact swing. Just trying like hell to put the ball in play. It’s one of the most iconic moments in WS history. So to complain about contact swinging is laughable
Contact swing is over powered, don’t defend it. An also don’t assume my age, because I was watching the game. But keep suckling from SDS t/t, you and others are why they won’t fix a [censored] thing unless it cost them money. This game is a broken nightmare, it’s RS slowly approaching 20 status . But hey I’ve been playing video games since the Atari, so I guess I wouldn’t know trash over a good product
Then don’t efffing play the game. I’m sure they wouldn’t give a rats a s s if you never played their game ever again. There are other issues with the game that deserve far more attention than your hard on over the contact efffing swing. Such an amateurish post.

Contact swing is broken. Anyone who argues otherwise is not paying attention and trying to debate people is fruitless on this point.

I don't have a horse in this race, but in the past they've explicitly stated that pitch speeds were different between online and offline. So they could very well nerf contact for one but not the other
Actually they don’t mess with the speeds at all. All they do is ramp up the sliders. So the pitch speeds have always been present just have to adjust the slider. If you want to get an upper hand on pitch speeds got to custom practice put the hitting difficulty on legend then change the slider in the settings and ramp up the speeds to max. If you can hit that you can hit any pitch in this game. Simple as that

It IS an issue they’re looking at; just taking a really long time finding the issue for whatever reason (priority, complexity, etc)
It’s not costing them money, they only fix issues that help players get xp faster then the should. They did it last year

It’s broken, the devs said in the 2nd stream of the year they’re looking into it. So do not try to say it’s not. It can be worked around but a good hitter abusing it is a nightmare. I also noticed xbox players are using it the most.
