Ohtani is a 95+ diamond SDS

@go4stros25_psn said in Ohtani is a 95+ diamond SDS:
He is a diamond, it's just that hitting attributes don't effect the overall of his live serie. For his live series to be a high diamond he would have to start pitching like degrom.
I think they have it right. Hes a high gold pitcher with a diamond bat.
Yes but that combination for the MORE than complete player he is needs to be a 90+ diamond
As a hitter alone his can hit for power, steal a bag and has a cannon arm.
-
He is a freak of nature and 3 guys this year are having huge seasons that all need recognition. Tatis, Ohtani and Vlad Jr. The issue with Ohtani is he needs to have a secondary position added at least and his card should be in the 90's. Or give him the June Lightning card at 98 overall

Yes but being a great hitter doesn't justify an increase to his pitching attributes. what youre missing is that he is a diamond, his overall rating just doesn't reflect it. If hitting attributes effected pitchers overalls then every pitcher in the game would be silver, except ohtani, who would be diamond.
I don't know how else to explain it.

Of course you don’t know how to explain it, you’re comparing him to other baseball players and using the attributes in this game to do so.
He is NOT a starting pitcher.
He is NOT and outfielder.
He is BOTH.
He’s a pitcher that’s entering the HRD on merit, not as a gag for marketing, but as a league leader in the same category players like Bonds and McGuire dominated. No, that doesn’t make him a better pitcher, it makes him a better BASEBALL player, so his Overall BASEBALL rating…shouldn’t be held back by the fact nobody else can do what this guy is doing.
It’s fairly obvious his card should be interchangeable, you should be able to start him in the OF or on the Mound, and his overall should be a representation of what he does in both positions, not what he does 20% of the time he’s on the field.
-
Gonna keep saying it, it's pretty hilarious when SDS pushes two-way players in RTTS but can't make an accurate live series card for a REAL two-way player.

I can agree with that. I'm not saying he isn't a Great baseball player. I'm just saying the way sds handled his live series is the reason he isn't a 90 overall card.
But let's all be honest, this isn't about everyone thinking ohtani is getting hosed by sds, or what position he should be. This is about selling him. They could make him a 90 tomorrow and he wouldn't be in anyone's lineup.

Nailed it, like I said...an anomaly and he should be rated as such

So how many Ohtani’s do you have?
LOL honestly, only 2. Not about stubs, Ohtani and Alex Reyes demand justice!
I'm of the mindset that anybody in a Cardinals uniform should be a common at this point, even if that player is doing fine.

I got 5 Ohtanis.... Im in

dropping 2 game set against the freakin Tigers is pretty close to rock bottom for this team right now...gaahbige

Yeah, giving him an OVR is not working. If it has to be like that, then it should be the average of his 2 OVR's. To lock his OVR to one or the other is dumb.
But nobody really saw this coming, so I'll give SDS half a mulligan on this one and hope they have a solution next year.

They easily pad and nerf certain players for market sake, if anyone deserve a courtesy buff it's Ohtani since he is doing something not seen in ages
-
I have none of him, but it astounds me that people keep defending his rating.

How ⁹anyone can say they have one of the best players we've ever seen play baseball right and an 83 or 85 ovr while players like glaus and wanders have 97-99s is hilarity you all have to be trolling

I get where you’re coming from but it’s simple and has already been said. His LS is a pitcher card so his ratings reflect him as a pitcher. Just the way the game is set up.
Who cares what his LS is anyway? The only reason you’d care is because you’re invested in him.
