I'm relatively new to the game....but even if he drops to an 89 or 88....I don't think his price changes all that much. I'm not sure 90's are really used that much anymore....so it's really the total cost of the collection that will drive the price.

I could be TOTALLY WRONG though! So take it with a grain of salt. I'm still trying to figure out how these markets work.

If he did drop to an 88-89 his price would drop a bit only beacause you could pull it from the 85-89 diamond packs. I think that's part of why he's still a 90 but other years come into consideration so that could hold him there.

    Thanks! Learn something everyday!

Further example --- and to a lesser extent -- Take a look at Freddie Freeman. He was a 90 and was sitting around 40-50k stubs (yes a bit lower than Bellinger at 100k) and is now down like 15k. I actually pulled him from my 85-89 pack from inning 3 (which is cool because he was 1 of 5 diamonds I still needed).

Well Bellinger started the season on the DL and only recently returned. There is no reason to have him lowered now. If he struggles then yes but need more then a few games to change. It's based on 3 year average and Cody has been pretty solid over the last 3 years

He wasnt too great last year either. He had a .789 OPS. He has an OPS of .756 if you combine this year and last year, along with a combined 1.7 WAR. Those numbers dont jump out as 90+ rating. He was very good in 2019 though.

Yelich had a better 2019 offensively and better OPS the past 2 seasons than Bellinger, and has been downgraded to an 85. I get that defense plays a factor in this as well, with that category going strongly to Bellinger.

I do think it's a fair question being asked.

So, why is Bellinger still a 90? He was amazing two years ago but hasn't exactly been one of the elite players in MLB the last two seasons (small sample size, I know). And I guess he'd never drop from 90 as long as he's on the IL...

Curious because I don't want to buy his 90 card if he's going to drop.

I believe he did drop last year, his price if I am correct was one of the first ones to drop.

you got to look at all the attributes, His defense is really good, so is his arm, he has decent speed. Those bump him up in ratings. His has power as well. Ratings are not just base on hitting other wise guys like Machado would not be a diamond at all.

Bellinger is a better fielder and has a better arm than Yelich and probably a bit faster. Look at all attributes

I am, that's why I mentioned defense. But the main point is that his offense has dramatically fallen over the past 2 seasons, yet his overall hasn't.

Last year was a different year with Covid maybe they are giving lead way with that for some players. His Defense has improved the last two years. I don't know

I just look at his stats, he has been pretty good since 2017, Last year his overall his numbers were down.
https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/bellico01.shtml if they are going by the last Three year and still using 2017 for players since last year was shorten then he still deserves the 90 overall

Yelich was MVP in 2018, and was arguably better in 2019. He also has had the same offensive decline the past 2 seasons. I'm only bringing him up as a point to highlight that I think the OP has a legitimate question in asking if Bellinger shouldnt still be a gatekeeper in rating.
