Rather than ranked ratings being determined by your respective ratings, a more equitable way to move up/down the rankings could be based on your opponents lifetime win percentage. I know I've run into some absolute goons who were rated lower than me just due to the timing of our ranked play.

I know it's unlikely to change, but just something I was thinking.

But if I'd be 30-1 and not touch ranked for months and then play a game, I'd play some dude in the 900s or 1000s while I'm at 400 or something. They'd lose a gazillion points if they lose the game.

That’s not true if you didn’t play for a while and the new season resets everyone’s rating would reset too. So if you started playing again you can match up with anyone great, good, decent, bad ( plus anyone close to the rating you’re at)

No, if you make World Series in season 1 and then you don't play at all in season 2 you drop to 650. If you then don't play again in season 3 you drop to 400. Trust me I've actually done this last year.

Then if you start playing late in season 4 and you're record is still 30-1 but your rating is 400, you could match up with a guy in the 900s or 1000s if OPs idea of win % matchmaking was implemented.

Yeah like you said if the win % matchmaking was implemented but it’s not. I did the same thing you did after making WS ,so the level competition is everywhere when it resets

I know that, but that's what this thread is about isn't it? Read the topic of the thread.

So if I was at 730 rating what's my rating now? 400 or 650?
