Something wrong with the Ballplayer coding
-
My Ballplayer has the diamond Hawk archetype, which makes him a shortstop in DD. Whenever I give him equipment and perks that will contribute to a fielding rating in the low 90s, he has a gold badge in the field. When he has 95+ fielding, he has a diamond badge.
I never quite understood the logic behind this, because SS is his primary position according to the card. But not according to the game. I went to my dashboard on this website and there I saw the following information:
Note that players in their secondary position have an outline around their position. So according to the game's coding, my ballplayer is actually a catcher and I'm playing him in his secondary at SS. This explains why my badge drops to gold whenever my fielding rating is between 90-95, due to the secondary penalty.
The funny thing is that if you move him to catcher, which should be his primary position according to the game's coding, all his stats drop to zero assuming you're playing him out of position.

He is a Primary SS. There isn't a way to play a catcher currently, and the DD screen does not accurately reflect your players position or attributes. This has been an issue since launch.

Ignore Lucas, he is completely missing the point of your post. Did you find a way to use the Hawk archetype without getting a secondary penalty at the SS position?

I have blocked Lucas long ago so I didn't even see his post lol. But anyway, the problem is that the stats in game show up correct so there's not really of way of telling unless you alter your CAP back to that 90-94 fielding rating which I haven't tried anymore.

This was happening to me only against the cpu. Yesterday it was magically fixed

I just did a Reddit search this morning….I read that if you put the bronze archetype you want active in RTTS and select your desired Diamond archetype pregame in DD you will get the Diamond fielding. I guess it gives you a five point secondary position penalty if you don’t do this according to Reddit.

I've heard about this too, does it only apply for RS though or also for conquest grinding for example?

I was wondering that as well since you don’t select an archetype for those games. I tested it out with either archetype active and it didn’t seem like I was getting the five point penalty with my primary in offline modes…..
