So is it literally impossible for the hitter not to swing and make contact every single time you attempt to steal a bag? I’m supposed to steal 50 bags somehow and every time I try (unless prompted, which isn’t often) the batter swings and makes contact. Anyone know what’s up?

Can you select to watch every pitch instead of just playing action pitches?

Yes. That’s what you need to do. Set it so you see every pitch of every at bat while on base. It makes each game a little longer but that’s how you’ll get your stolen bases in without having a scenario where it’s the manager telling you to steal. Be patient though. If you’re going to extend your lead a step, expect a throw over before the first pitch. Also expect to see some slide steps, especially if the pitcher is ahead in the count. Take your time, watch a pitch or two to get a read on the pitcher in terms of whether he’s going to kick or slide step, but also to gauge whether or not he’s delivery is long enough to get a good jump. Most of the batters will not be getting a hit on the first couple of pitches so you have time to let them work their count so you get a good count to run on. Also, as your SB numbers go up, expect more and more pitchouts on the first or even sometime first two pitches.

There is also an option of half count pitches if you wanna risk it a little. Often half count will be quicker but still give you a chance or two. But it’s often only a chance or two. So you need to make it count. It’s quicker than watching all and more chances than just action pitch but it can be risky cause if they try to slide step or pick off or anything like that it’s less chances of seeing a swing and miss to try the next time.

I’ve tried everything and I swear 98% of the time I steal, the batter SWINGS and makes contact, regardless of whether it’s a strike or a ball in the dirt. It’s actually unreal. I’ve replayed several of the batter swings and they swing at GARBAGE only when I’m stealing. It has to be some sort of glitch. It’s just frustrating. I’ve already decided to forgo trying to meet the stealing goals for the RTTS program.

Go into the mode specific settings and change the last setting (I think it’s called teammate at bats or play teammate at bats or something along those lines, not home to check now) to “all” so that when you’re on base you get to play through your teammates’ entire at bats rather than just one pitch. Then you’ll have time to read the pitcher and calculate your steal on the right pitch instead of being forced to try on one that will be put into play more than half the time. You can also choose to only play through the second half of your teammates’ at bats but that obviously lowers your chances of having a good pitch to steal on. When you do this expect a pick off, pitch out or slide step if you try to take a longer lead, especially as you start to rack up the stolen bases as the season goes on.

I forgot to check that option, so that may help me with the problem. I have also noticed that if you don't try to steal on a 3 ball or 2 strike count and you have a slightly better chance of not getting hosed out of a steal.
