Why the hitting engine turned into a cash grab
-
For the first week of MLB 20 I was having the time of my life. I didn’t care about diamonds yet because the golds I was using were mashing. I figured it’ll be great to save stubs, grind with cards wouldn’t typically use if I wanted to compete competitively online. I knew in a month or two I would have to move on from the golds and budget beasts.
Fast foreword post patch 1.04
Now it’s a RNG fest covered up by user input not being properly rewarded. Now I feel I need all the best cards just to overcome the god awful hitting engine these developers tinkered with just to have a chance. Those golds that were mashing now can’t hit anything. The low diamonds are better just not good enough. The high diamonds mash because RNG.. so now I’m back on a race to get the best cards possible and the game turned into a job instead of what it’s meant to be.. a escape from reality to have fun for a couple hours.
And when it feels that way it’s much easier to swipe a credit card then to grind with golds because you can’t win or hit. And the next best card out you think will be the one that gets you back to that day 1 feel so you go do that again once the cards get better and better.

Cant say it better myself

..... and people keep playing and paying. That's exactly why it wont change.

While I somewhat agree with what you are saying and it may be the case, I am still seeing poor feedback (good/okay) for diamonds on balls in the center of the pci. Results just are not making any sense, where they were during the first week.
-
Agree dude I don’t think any version of the Show has ever played as bad as it is right now.
-
I was trying to do the Evolution with Pudge the stats for his silver part are pretty good contact and power wise but I can't seem to hit the HR I need I've hit the wall a lot been robbed twice by the fielder..and a good contact and perfect timing have just been base hits so frustrating right now and it doesn't help I'm not a good player..Don't even get me started on the Granderson moments it just seems veteran lvl feels like I'm being pitched like it was All Star or HOF level 8 balls out of the strike zone in 2 at bats..I gave up on trying them

Yeah hence making you think a guy with a little more vision or contact that’ll turn to good/good. So pull out the credit card.

For that particular moment, I had to switch to direction and power swing. While using zone, of the ones that had a chance, a couple were robbed at the wall. And one hit the wall. Finally got it done by doing directional/power.
In some of these moments, going to directional is almost a must. -

Pretty sure we are just looking at a group of developers, along with decision makers at the top, who have forgotten, or became too lazy, though it could be incompetence, to put out a solid game.

I'm really glad folks are starting to catch on. They've been compromising gameplay to push stubs ever since '17, though this latest change is by far the most blatant.

There is no more denying this. They will not get another dollar from me.

JMO - the initial release of the game the last 2 years shows the developers are doing a fantastic job and, if allowed, are more than capable of releasing a great game.
Developers aren't deciding to make these changes, it's 100% coming from the top. As backwards as it sounds, management determined users were having too much fun the first week, which was costing them stub sales (ie. if you're happy with the game, and by extension your cards, you're less likely to spend additional $$). So they essentially ordered the devs to mess up the game and frustrate people into pulling out the credit card.
We're going to continue to see this cycle until legislation is passed that outlaws these exploitative pay2win practices. Once the MTX go cosmetic-only, they'll have no incentive to manipulate gameplay in this manner.

I think pitching is to random in this game user input is bad for pitching. I got down 3-0 and I was like screw it I will just throw whatever and wherever and see what happens. it was 3-1 than 4--1 by the 5th. after that opponent did not score. I came back scored 2 in the 8th and 2 in the 9th. My opponent was predictable with his pitches and I finally was able to time them up. I think going forward I am not going to try and pitch to hit corners or hit certain spots cause it does not matter. I will pitch and just see what the Randomness will be.

i wish we had competition. THIS is what happens when there is no competition. just like madden. [censored]. pure and utter [censored]. 2k5 was so good that EA got scared and just bought their profits by eliminating competition. i so wish someone would make a good baseball game. that is the only way this will end. we are screwed boys. SDS doesnt care 1 bit about anything other than profits.
why do you think we have the same announcers and graphics for the last 5 years? all their resources go into DD and how they can screw us out of money. showdown is a CPU game that you have to pay 1000 stubs to play, and its hard as hell, so you fail, get mad and pump another quarter into the machine. its egregious.

Trust me , how many good cards you have and vision are not gonna make a huge difference IMO right now . I’ve got trout , judge , Stanton , Wilson contraez, Torres , and others and I either hit a HR , strike out , or pop out . The hitting is not good right now while pitching and fielding are even worse . Having said that I have full faith SDS will patch it soon .

why don't we all copy this post and submit it as feedback to SDS' support page and sprinkle a little personalization through out? Since we're all stuck at home, it won't hurt
