Pausing Cheese

Apologies for use of the word cheese. I know it is an overused term, but I did find it appropriate in this situation.
I’m not complaining. Just wondering if this is a thing or others have seen it.
I brought in a ph to face a righty. The other player switched pitchers. So, I wanted to switch my batter. The player kept pausing in between pitches and then throwing as soon as possible. So, I wasn’t able to pause.
I tried pausing or stepping out of the box, but it wouldn’t seem to work. I was able to step out of the box one time, but the other player paused real quick again and did the same thing.
I was mashing the pause and step out buttons and it just didn’t seem to do it. This went on for 4 or 5 pitches and I was never able to sub.
I lost the game and that wasn’t the difference. Just wondering if it is worth sending a ticket. It felt like how you used to be able to quick pitch a pitcher before a sub, except it was every pitch.

Try to Press up on the directional pad next time. Or hold R2(only case this would be legit).

I tried up I think. I did not try r2. I hope I don’t see it again, but if I do I’ll try r2.
I’m just curious if this is a thing or if I was just having a rough time pausing for some reason.

I have not ran into it in 60+ legit games I have played online. It’s probably just a one off

I ran into it. I pressed down on the d pad to call time then paused. It was annoying

I haven’t noticed anybody intentionally trying to use that for cheese. But I have noticed that once the game comes out of “pause” the pitcher is already getting set. I could definitely see how that could be abused

I wish they would like implement an automatic 20second timer deduction every time the game is paused. Would really ruin it for those who pause every pitch to be annoying but still not be too damaging to those who need to go in to their pen.
Pause timer in this game is far too generous.
