Well you guys ruined the mode that I started playing MLB The Show for.

What's the point of having sliders if your CAP can't get XP if you move them? Just one of the many many many stupid things.

Try franchise with player lock, you can start out as a 99 beast or languish in the minors as long as you like. You also can start out with 5 pitches and a knuckleball.
I have a better idea lets go back and play last years RTTS instead
Better if you enjoy a year old roster/schedule and archetype restrictions.
No thanks

I hate it so much. I have been using the same player since 15. Im a casual player I play through maybe a season and a half per year. Not being able to transfer my save from 20 like all previous versions is dumb.

I've been playing video games my entire life and I've gotten pretty good at them. I can't understand what the intention is of having a game where we can't just cheerfully blast away against the AI. I have all of the easiest settings on on the easiest difficulty and I still struggle to do even basic things. Sometimes we just want a game where we can play for our favorite team and be a hero. Getting tied into player vs player balance, stat caps, precision aim and timing, I just don't understand. Not everyone wants realism. If they do, more power to them, they seem to have plenty of modes for that. Where's the mode for people who want to have fun?
I can't imagine what this game would be like to an older guy who just wants to play a video game about baseball and doesn't play games often.

I always loved building my CAP. My son did as well. We also spent so many stubs on equipment and grinding the heck out of it to be a great player. After reading that 50 is the max per attribute, my CAP will suck compared to regular cards within about a month when everyone has Diamond level players. So SDS... You just cost yourself big time since I do not even have to worry about buying equipment. RTTS always felt lame to me, but I used my CAP in DD and had fun with it. SO NOW I'LL SKIP IT. Nice work.

Honestly this is so disappointing, RTTS is my number one reason I play this. I was two seasons away on MLB 20 from retiring. Come to find out it doesn’t transfer... LAME. Now, starting this year, I’ve already played half of my AA year and everything is nerfed. My contact has moved 4 attribute points from 30 to 34. What the heck SDS! I’m hitting .350+ and yet 80% of my hits are bleeders or bloopers over infielders heads or down the line. It’s nearly impossible to square one up and send it out. I still HAVEN’T hit a home run regardless of what perks I use on the ballplayer loadout. The mode is just super disappointing this year because of the such slow progression. Why couldn’t they just keep doing what was WORKING??? SDS please, go back to the RTTS we all loved.
Wait, does this mean I can't actually transfer my 20 character into 21?

No...or yes? Whichever one means "You can't transfer previous year characters into 21"

I'm trying to player lock in franchise mode, and at the start of each game the player I choose it subbed and I have to play everyone like normal. Anyone know how to fix this?

What I was looking forward to this year with the PS5 was improved frame rate and graphics, deeper stat tracking, and the elimination of legacy bugs (like not being able to cover first base in time to get an out as an RTTS pitcher on a ball hit to the first baseman).
I LOVED the core of RTTS as it was. They just needed to subtract the silly and unrealistic stuff that was in the game and make it prettier.
The cutscenes of podcasts add ZERO value for me. I haven’t sat through an entire cutscene yet. I watch it for 3 to 5 seconds, start to cringe, remember that I can already watch people talk about baseball in real life if I want to, and I skip through it.
I miss my pitcher and hitter who I was looking forward to carrying over from the last 2 years’ of The Show.
I miss ShowTime opportunities when stealing bases, at the plate, and as a pitcher.
I miss being able to create my own narrative instead of being drug through one.
I miss having my equipment save.
The changes made to RTTS seem like developer indulgence more than anything else.
Don’t alienate your base!
If the devs will focus on making the game as true to baseball as it can be (shoot for OOTP in the team management and stat-tracking area, continue to refine what The Show does gameplay-wise, with a priority on removing bugs and unrealistic outcomes over adding new animations and cutscenes, and make the focus of RTTS to let the USER determine what kind of player they want their character to be and let them carry those characters over year after year), then they’ll have something their base wants.
As far as MLB 21 goes, I think I’ll be better off playing last year’s game.
MLB 21 is prettier, but once you get beyond that, there are new bugs to fight in addition to the legacy bugs that have plagued the game for years. -
I am actually OK with most of the aspects of the new RTTS with one exception - Ballplayer. It is now impossible to start a really NEW player in RTTS. You can start a new career, but the player is your ballplayer, and even if you strip out all gear and Perks, he keeps his Base Attributes from previous career(s). I have not confirmed, but I also understand his age doesn't return to 18, either. I just want to chime in to help drive home the point that this KILLS most of the fun I got out of RTTS. Not being able to start a new guy and a new career is going to send me back to 20. I have no interest in DD or any other mode, so the wreckage of RTTS may drive me away from the game entirely unless some of this stuff gets changed/fixed.

Yeah the base idea has merits, but I think they underestimated all the unintended consequences it would lead to. They usually don’t mess up twice in a row, so if they can’t fix it this year because of the workload and the time table involved, I’d expect next year to be a huge leap forward. If I’d still played this mode like I used to, no doubt I’d go back to 20.
