Franchise Player Contracts

Does anybody know why most players in Franchise mode are on the last year of their deal? Makes it tough in the offseason trying to sign so many players, and by year two of the Franchise the league already looks so different in terms of who plays for what team.

Is this a dumb question or does nobody know the answer?

Ask in the OS forums, they’ll know for sure. Just give some extra info like whether it’s a carryover save file, maybe some example players etc. Those franchise players on OS know the game inside out.

I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about, but most players on your roster will only have one year deals. I'm not 100% positive of the rules, but basically, until you put someone on the 40-man roster, they are stuck in the minor leagues with only one year deals every year.

A lot of rosters have many players who haven't had enough service time to be a free agent(6-7 years, depending on whether or not the team manipulated the service time). These players are basically on a series of 1 year deals where only the current team can have negotiating rights. Then there's the arbitration years, which are similar but if there's a money disagreement they go to an independent arbitrator who gets to decide who is right
