Are they now just "First half" cards? I ask because 1991 Cal Ripken won the AL MVP, so it being just an AS card is weird unless they made AS cards "First Half cards" (His first half that year was lightyears better than his second half)

I suppose because an awards 1991 Cal would be 99.
But you're on to something there with all-star

I mean, if it's a full season, then there should theoretically be zero difference between an award and all-star card (outside of card art), right?

Never thought of them that way, but makes sense now that you’ve put some thought into it.

I think there based on how the player got into the all-star games which would make them a 1st half card yeah

    It's an All-Star card.

Let's not forget that Barry Larkin's 1990 has been a Breakout, a Postseason, and an Awards card all in different years.

Award cards (like Signature, Prime and presumably Milestone) are supposed to be a player's best card of the year. They've obviously got plans for Ripken to make another appearance this year which is why his 91 card wasn't designated an Awards card.
