I swear to you I’m moving my pci.

I know in the feedback it says I haven’t moved my pci, but I’m telling you I’m moving it. I see it go up or over or down but then in the feedback it’s showing it’s not been moved at all. Now here’s the question: is the contact result being represented by my actual input and the feedback is wrong, or is the contact result being represented by my pci seemingly not moving and my pci movement isn’t being registered? Here’s why I think it might be the latter: often times when I’m running the bases, I’ll select a specific runner and nothing happens. I’ll move the stick appropriately towards the dude I want to select but it doesn’t register. It’s as if the action lagged and according to the game, it never happened. Thoughts?

If your pci is moving before the pitch why wouldn’t it register after? My guess is your hitting the button too fast. Lift your thumb off the button a few inches and try hitting that way and see if your pci moves.
I don’t know about baserunning I don’t have any issues with that.

That’s an interesting idea. I think I’ll try starting my finger away from the button like you said. I figure it will make my swing late, but it would be nice to see if it allows my pci to travel where intended.

I have noticed I have a bad habit of releasing the analog stick too early when I recognize a pitch so it defaults the pci to the middle of the zone before I swing. I have noticed that a bunch of times I have squared up a pitch and the swing box goes from good swing to late as soon as the ball goes into the air.

So let’s say I hit a ball in the gap, sometime when I move my stick to highlight the runner, it won’t register the first time. Sometimes it works smoothly, but sometimes my commands to my baserunner are laggy.

The problem I have, only happens when a runner is going 2nd to 3rd, is if I highlight him (I see it highlighted) and press X to send him home, he'll stop at 3rd, then proceed home after the gazillionth X spam; by then it's too late, the momentum is gone.

I know what you mean. I wonder if sometimes I’ll snap the pci up to where it goes but maybe it returns to center as I’m getting ready to swing. I guess I need to hold my follow through.

You can still move your PCI after the swing is started, but wherever it is at the time you press to swing is where the bat will go and where it will register on the feedback.

Really? That makes sense then If that’s the case. So then visually the pci will keep moving on my screen, but the location it is when I push the button is what the contact and feedback reflects? I’m going to try the suggestion that untchable704 suggested and start with my thumb away from the button to give my pci time to travel.

Yea, basically you can think of it in terms of hitting in real life. The PCI is your eyeballs, and the swing button is your hands. As the pitch comes towards you you’re following the ball with your eyes. You start your swing and aim your hands at the location where you predict the ball will be when it gets to the plate based on your eyes tracking the ball. As the bat is moving, and the ball continues its path, your eyes will continue to track the ball but your hands and the bat are already set on their own path to the location you spotted when you started your swing.
If you’re looking for hitting recommendations, I would suggest started the PCI up on the zone near the pitcher’s release point and track the ball with the PCI from there, OR start the PCI up and in since those are the pitches you need to get around earliest on, then if the pitch is outside you’ll have a little more time to move the PCI to the outside part of the plate because you can afford to swing a little later on that pitch. I use either method and both seem to work well.
I would also suggest switching the swing input from buttons to analog stride. Still use Zone Hitting as your Hitting Interface, but change the Swing Input from Buttons to Analog, and then change the Analog Input from Flick to Stride. This will allow you better control of your swing timing because you still use the left analog to move the PCI, but you use the right analog to swing the bat. Stride analog lets you press down on the right analog to load/step and then up to swing every time. Side note: Flick analog is up for normal swing, down-up for power swing and right or left for contact swing. I don’t like this because it’s a different mechanic for each swing type, while analog stride uses the same mechanic every time, you simply just hold one of the face buttons for a second or so any time before the pitch to choose the swing type (normal is default, square on PS or X on XBOX for power, circle on PS or B on XBOX for contact, and X on PS or A on XBOX to switch back to normal swing) and you’ll feel a quick vibration feedback to let you know you’ve successfully selected a new swing type.
Takes a minute to get used to but a little time spent in practice mode may make it worth your while.

Thanks for the feedback and advice. I do tend to sit up and in. I’d love to be able to sit middle and react, but I can’t hit the hard stuff that way. I might try analogue again. I tried it once a while back, but it was too much to manage along with zone. Recently, I’ve switched the X and R2 buttons because I’m old and my thumbs hurt. Pressing R2 actually feels more fluid. I’ve cost myself a event game because instead of throwing home, I dove and fell flat on my face on the winning run.
