(PS5) When running bases what buttons question

In solos when you clock one and need to stretch it into a double and the guy in front of you stops at 2nd. How do you force him to run to 3rd? It prevents you from getting a double. I’m pressing L1 but it’s only controlling my hitter. I’m new this year. Doing fairly ok but this continues to be a problem especially in Moments lol. Thank you for any help you may be able to provide!

In most moments you don’t control the runners on base, unless is one of those moments that say beat X Team with Y Team.

I see. Ok appreciate that! If it were to happen in a h2h game and 2 guys are standing at 2nd how do I get the lead guy only to go to 3rd? For future reference? Lol I really do appreciate the help! Game is so fun yet so aggravating!
