I remember last year unless you went 12-0 in BR you had to put in million dollar orders for cards like Willie Mays & Chipper Jones and wait like 2 months for them to be filled - When you think about it that is absolutely stupid lol. To make it that only people who are able to go 12-0 in BR get to play with some of the best legends of the game. I really like how they did it this year with the tallying of wins to get rewards. Makes it so ALL players of ALL skill levels get to enjoy these cards. Yet you only get the banner & icon if you go 12-0 as to let people that are able to do it show off their achievement. Just wanted to give props where it’s due, Well done on this SDS.
I agree as a very small portion of the player base can go 12-0 or make WS.
However you will hear a lot of gatekeepers on here whining about participation trophies.
It’s actually less than 1% of the player base.
Well, I don’t see it as participation trophies because as I said the banners/icons are still reserved for only the players that can make WS/Go 12-0. They’re still earning the cards by winning 40 games or whatever.

40 wins likely means 70+ games for most people. It’s still a huge grind.

Goes to their “grind 99” slogan during prerelease streams.

BR rewards are supposed to be because you're good, not seeing how many games you can lose before you win 40. They've definitely turned it and ws into participation trophies, but that's what this game has become; a non-competitive (can't have anyone feeling bad about themselves, even if they do suck) game, where you don't have to earn anything, but just put in the time. And yeah I know, that's a winning formula for SDS, because most people just aren't that good.
-
Disagree. I can’t go 12-0 ( well, I have never played a single BR game but probably couldn’t) and I think it’s terribly lame to give these away for accumulated wins. This further compounds everyone having the same lineup, and destroys the accomplishment of earning something.
But yes, SDS listened to the constant whiners.

Not really, half these clowns play one, quit one, so they always play in the super low rank levels so they can easily get their wins.

The stupid thing about being good at MLB is that a lot of it relies on how good your monitor or controller is and what settings you have your monitor or tv on.
Then after that a lot of the guys that are in the top one percent are good at stealing runs on [censored] gameplay mechanics.
-
With that being said I would like to see some kind of unique rewards for being the best.

Nothing to do with it; it’s to avoid people cornering the market with ridiculous prices; you still have to pay 1500 stubs for each round, so if you win 3-4 per turn, you still spend stubs. Keeps the base active longer and from more people. It’s a video game, not a college degree. Putting in time is still earning it.

I think it was MLB 17 when they implemented so many very late Texas leaguers and even home runs jammed off the handle opposite field into the game.
I agree with you that the new reward system and even gameplay mechanics are made to keep people interested.

That’s what the banners & icons are for. Only people who have made WS or go 12-0 get them, They are not in the accumulated wins pack. That way the people who achieved those feats can pound their chest by showing off those to everyone they play.

The banners aren’t even visible in the game this year haha. Would it really be that bad to have ONE player only attainable through WS or 12-0. Would that hurt peoples feelings that badly?

I could put all the time in the world trying to take the 100 meter run title, but it still ain't never going to happen. We're going to have to just disagree about earning it by putting in time. And yeah, I get the business model.

Comparing a video game to 100 meter dash? Really?

Huge W. The people complaining aren’t even close to 12-0 players. 12-0 players got over it quite quickly when they realized it’s nearly irrelevant to them. They achieve 12-0 long before regulars get to 40-40. They have 50,000,000 stubs at the end of the year and every card. Pitching Rebel had 2,000,000 the day after release. It almost doesn’t even effect them, they always have all the cards and too many stubs to ever worry about investing, flipping or collecting.
These guys grind out 11-0 the day before new BR cards come out and have them in 20 minutes sometimes. They aren’t worried about a price drop 25 days later lol.

Sure they are. You just go to your universal profile & pick it...Then whenever you play someone it shows where your name is on screen.

If the game wasn’t broken and luck based then yes. Or are you telling me every single one of your wins is always legit?? Getting to 40 wins ain’t easy. So a b u m still ain’t gonna reach that mark regardless
