Steroids isn't why they aren't in the game. All those guys have extremely high egos and won't give up their rights. At least not for what SDS is willing to pay
uh wrong... Bonds does but the rest don't. It's the mlbpa that keeps most of those guys out.
SDS negotiates with all retired players individually. They aren't in the MLBPA after they retire. It isn't the MLBPA keeping them out. It's themselves. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if SDS approached Curt Schilling in the past and said "hey would you like to be in our video game for _____ amount of money" and schilling replied "video games are for liberals you can shove it"

I think you misunderstand. The mlbpa has a say on who sds negotiates with and they don't want them to negotiate with the steroid guys.

I always wonder if they have a wink wink (or hidden rider) agreement with MLB not to touch the controversial guys. Hell Pete Rose would probably sign up for like 600 bucks. Can’t imagine that ALL of the steroid guys Sosa, Mac, Bonds, Canseco, Clemens, etc have numbers way too high. Seems more likely SDS/MLB are not inclined to sign them. Do we really think that Griffey doesn’t cost a fortune compared to what most of the rest would cost?
mlbpa don't want those guys in... Only a few of the steroid guys are in the game... piazza(accused), braun, giambi are the only ones i can think of right off rip. Braun won't be when he retires and is no longer a part of the mlbpa.
Braun was caught and suspended for it. Giambi never was because it wasn't tested when he did, though he admitted to using during the Balco probe.
I think the theme here is if you are suspended for it (past 2003 basically), and are out of MLBPA (retired), you won't be in the game..
Save for steroid cover boys Bonds and Clemens. Even though their case is no different than GiambiYeah that's why i don't think braun will ever be in the game when he retires unless they change their tune which i hope like heck they do.. No reason why clemens, sosa, mcgwire couldn't be in the game.. Bonds is a different animal as he literally shot himself in the foot on royalities like this when he got out of the mlbpa back in the day..

I think it's just simply controversial to add the big boys like Clemens into the game.. which is a shame. Because he'd be absolutely awesome!!! You'd have multiple types of Rockets too..
Boston flamethrower with a curve
Toronto God (otherworldly splitter, literally unhittable triple crown winner)
New York Rocket
Houston resurgent Rocket..Would be lots of cool cards

I really think you are looking too much into it. SDS is a business. MLB and the MLBPA probably do have a list of people that can't be in the game, but it's the Chicago Black Sox and Pete Rose. Maybe Bonds and Clemens but that is probably just because they were the faces of the whole thing. There's no way they would let SDS get the rights to Giambi but not say Jose Canseco. They didn't care about this game at all until they wanted Xbox added to the mix, which was likely a marketing ploy for baseball as a whole. I really don't think the MLBPA cares much about this game at all

Absolutely, I'm 43 and grew up loving those guys and Glen Davis, wow I loved watching him crush balls in the dome but other than my brother and dad I have very rarely heard his name mentioned. Had the Astros won a little more and Davis got some exposure in places other than East Texss he would have been talked about as 1 of the better power hitters from that time period. You forgot 1 guy though and he would be a fun card to have in the game , Ken Caminiti dude was insane at 3b descent switch hitter once he got to San Diego and let the juice flow he was a beast at the plate and what a great 99 card that would be
-
I'd love to see big puma, Lance Berkman in the game. Loved watching him play and met him. He's a good dude
-
I love how all the Astros fans pine for days of the Killer B’s. Ever since Altuve was afraid to make his wife mad about people seeing his chest and the buzzer taped to it any of the players who were with them from 2016 to present don’t seem all that cool. Except for Zack Grienke. He will always be cool.

I did enjoy making a Phillies infield of Schmidt, Rollins, Utley and Howard. Made a for a very cool all time team.
Just need Utley, Howard, and Abreu while we are at it. -

Being a Brewers fan, I watched a lot of Astros games (they were in the same division previously) and they were tough for a while. The talent just never amounted to much. Berkman, Biggio, Bagwell, Oswalt, Wagner off the top of my head. Pretty dirty. In 2004 they had the 3 Bs (Berkman, Biggio & Bagwell), Jeff Kent, Carlos Beltran, Brad Ausmus, Willy Taveras, Oswalt, Roger Clemens, Andy Pettite, Dotel, Brad Lidge.
Carlos Lee was a beast too! But he came a couple years later.

We need a Magglio Ordóñez card bad!

Steroids saved the game! Bring on the ROID era!!! I remember the crowd numbers in early ‘95. Some crowds had less than 2500 fans.
