I’m the away team a lot. I’ve been away 8 out of my last ten games. This isn’t from people home hunting and quitting and what not. Why do I keep being the away team?

Home hunting seems to be a thing of the past from my experience.

Right. So is it normal to be the away team that much? And my previous 10 games I was the away team like 7 of those games. How do they determine home and away?

Lol....I keep wondering why I'm always the home team. Like I literally have to Lag hunt to be the away team.

I'm not sure but I would say I am the home team more than I am the away if it is not equal. I'm not sure if it has to do with ping or connection either. I really have no idea but maybe I will start taking note of it. For the record I do have really good internet and a low ping and I'm hard-wired and live in a big city but I really have no idea if that's how they determine home and away.

I’m hardwired on a 400mbps connection. I live in central Virginia. I have no idea what my ping is. Maybe that’s what it is.

Then my ping is pretty decent. It would be great to know how the home team is decided because I feel that last year and this year, I am the away team an inordinate amount of times. -
I seriously think that it's just as random as so much of the game. You might be unlucky to start with and then go on a run of a bunch of home games. I could be wrong but who really knows.

So I’ve been the away team 35 out of my last 51 head to head games. That’s almost 70%. Is there any body else who’s away that much. I just played 4 event games and I was the away team for each one. And let me reiterate. People are not backing out. I’m getting connected and I’m just the away team. I have unlocked some really sweet home jerseys that I never get to see.

You can use any jersey you have as a home or away one.

Ah ok. Wasn’t sure I just assumed that’s how it worked because I’ve only played a few online games and have a low rating and I’ve been away a lot.

I’ve wondered if it has something to do with created stadiums. I’m on PS4 so I obviously don’t have access to them. If I get matched up against a next gen user with a created stadium, there’s no way for them to be the home team. If you’re noticing you’re away a bunch, it could be that your stadium isn’t compatible with last gen, and matching up with them gives them home field advantage. I’ve noticed I’m home a ton.

If a PS5 / Xbox Series player selects a custom stadium, then you as a PS4 player wouldn't even be in their pool of potential matches. Cross gen only works if they select a standard stadium.

This makes sense. I'm on a PS4 as well and seem to be the home team more than I am away. Wondering if turning off cross play will help.

People have talked about it having something to do with ping. I guess that seems plausible. Maybe it makes the person home who is closer to the server even though the game connection itself is p2p. It’s pretty ridiculous. I was the away team 8 out of 9 games yesterday. That can’t be random. I’ve had other days with 8-11, 7-8, etc. I’m trying some stuff on my end like restarting my router, pausing certain devices on my network, but it would be nice to get an official response on what’s going on and what I could do about it. I wonder if I would get a response if I put in a ticket.
