I’ve been taking advantage of my mlb.tv package, which is awesome. But, I find myself very annoyed at least once a game that every former player that calls games need to complain about how players don’t/can’t bunt, lack of hit and run, moving runners over from 2nd, etc.
Don’t get me wrong. I want all of those things as much as the next guy and the points are all fair. But, do we really need to hear about every single game and every time a lead off double doesn’t lead to a run?
You’d think MLB would remind these teams to promote their current players and game instead of longing for the good old days.
Am I the only one?

I watch every Jays game. I have to listen to Buck Martinez get angry at catchers putting one knee down 50 times a day, and Pat Tabler talk about a player's glutes looking good 3 hours a day

Ben Davis does that about catchers too,but hes actually a very good colorman

I mean Buck does the world series with Vasgersian, so he's obviously really good.. but he's just a bit old school for my taste... And praises the opposition a bit much.

I watched 3 phils games on the espn premiere game and it felt like i was watching the other teams broadcast, and they were home games. I skip them now.

One of my favorite anecdotes of all time:
I'm attending a CLE@CIN game in the mid-aughts, it's bottom 9 and the Reds are down 1 with 2 on. Dusty Baker tells Adam Dunn to bunt.
Seriously.
He tries and fails. Then, well ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VE0R3O1-xGE

That’s another one.
Then they usually call out how great some hall of famer used to be at said task.
“I remember when I played with Pete rose, he used to say...”
Dude, this kid isn’t Pete Rose!!!!!

Buck will mention some obscure player he used to play with all the time. Pat will vaguely remember.. and it's an inside joke nobody knows what they're talking about

I'm here for Buck Martinez. Much love and respect. I remember Buck calling games with Jim Hughson before Dan Schulman came along (Tabby somehow opened the back door and someone forgot to show him out). Jim and Buck also did the (hilarious) commentary for the Triple Play games.
I actually think Buck is probably right about the catcher stances, for what it's worth, but yeah, it's certainly his current bete noir. I missed last night's game so no idea how often it came up haha.

Vasgersian in the WS coverage was actually worse than he is in the game. He said 'outhouse to penthouse' so many times I just about threw up.
I love that Blue Jays coverage in general over the years hasn't been slavishly reverential towards the Jays at the expense of pointing out what the other team is doing right. Pretty refreshing compared to watching a White Sox broadcast ('good guys!').
