Of course it happens in real life. The Kirk Gibson World Series pinch hit HR is one of the worst swings you will see. Lunging completely on his front foot, just throws the bat at it.

That would have been a routine fly at a lot of stadiums. I bet that ball didn't even reach 380ft. Not that impressed.

I've always felt that that swing was the worst HR swing I've ever seen. I was shocked that the ball cleared the wall.

Vlad Guerrero is always my go-to example when it comes to complaints about people getting hits on pitches out of the zone. Guy always swung at pitches in a different zip code and always seemed to get a hit.

Dude got base hits on balls that bounced first all the while having just a violent swing. It was just impressive to watch

That swing was a miracle to begin with. Kirk could barely walk let alone swing a bat. He was literally incapable of swinging the bat properly. If you have ever seen the documentary about that Dodgers team, he actually guessed correctly. So saying he just threw his bat at it is a bit of an exaggeration. He did all he was capable of doing in That particular situation.

I've seen the same documentary, and I'm not trying to take anything away from the accomplishment. It was an amazing moment. The swing was completely off balance though. Most would complain on here if that happened to them online. There would be screenshots of the "early" HR on a backdoor slider, and talking about how the physics of the game are totally unrealistic.

Watch the replay from the side starting at 13:40ish and tell me he didnt just throw his hands at that. There is nothing in that swing that looks like driving a baseball.

Theres a video on Youtube of some of the crazy hits he had and they show the hit then a slowed down version so you could see the exact crazy location of the ball when he swung. As a Yankees fan, i hated playing against him because the guy could hit anything.

Really was too it's hard to get today's kids to understand reality 😕 the strike zone is for the umps to call balls and strikes with it doesn't determine what ball should be hittable to where it should be hit there's no crying in baseball!
