His screwball has like 92 control with 99 break. It isn’t a long slow SB like Honeywell or Franco, it actually has quite some zip and you pretty much paint with it anywhere. Pair that with good speed differentials on his slow circle change, you get your opponent sitting offspeed and the FB looks 98-99 when you throw it. Al those pitches tunnel extremely well

Rip he was like 30k not too long ago
Yeah thats why I sold him. A good 45k profit. And I'll buy him back when his price settles after the collection. Plus i want to see how that 88 madbum plays online
I don't think his price will settle down at all. People are locking him into a collection and the card is unobtainable now. There may be a few people using him for RS that could sell when they upgrade their starters, but I wouldn't assume his price comes down at all.
-
He's expensive because he's much better than expected, and due to expectations the majority of people didn't take him from their choice pack.
If the price was due to collections, he would be a similar price to the other two cards that art in the collection. It's all about his stuff, and he's nasty. His screw ball can be dotted anywhere, and is extremely effective a couple times a game up and in. His change up and curve ball look just like the screw ball when thrown low or in the dirt, but the speed differential is huge.
This is the first year fitness pitchers are usable since I started playing DD a few years ago, and I couldn't be happier. Hopefully we are done with the days of sinker/cutter being the only effective combination of pitches.

Just finished a ranked game. Opponent was just over 600. Here is the pitch spray chart.
Only two Ranked games so far. 18 IP, 42 K. Yes, that's two 21 strikeout performances. He's a very very good pitcher.
It's not the pitcher.. It's your opponent. Majority of the people that play this game, especially in RS, are terrible at picking up and then making contact on off speed pitches. When I go against a person using him I sit back and get ready for a long boring game. I'll let him tire himself out throwing junk pitches for balls all game. Eventually they start to creep back into the strike zone and then make their mistakes. Like clockwork.
That said... i cannot stand hitting against him lol.
I was in the strike zone all game.
Credit is due. It's a great card.
Strikezone has nothing to do with it.... people cant hit off speed pitches for [censored] in this game because they dont know how to read pitches and sit fastball every pitch. That's why he's good. End of discussion

Somebody [censored] in your Cheerios this morning? End of discussion? Pump the brakes.
People that get 21k face folks that swing at the stuff everybody throws OUTSIDE the Strike Zone.
My example is to show that Fernando is effective on all levels because of the ability to THROW STRIKES and generate missed bats.
So IMHO, it has a lot to do with Strike Zone.
Have a great day.

His price might keep going up, top players have posted vids saying he is the most difficult pitcher to hit in the show. That difference in speeds along with the movement it seems the way to go this year. Not my opinion, just what I got from the ones that are the best at the game.

yeah I cannot bring myself to spend the stubs on him when my rotation is already where I like it:
- DeGrom
- Cole
- Burns
- Bauer
- Sale
He better than all those guys
I love that I have a rotation that I like, do not want to spend money on a card that I do not want to use, because I like what I have and am more focused on improving my bullpen, but your only take away is that Valenzuela is "better than all those guys." Which he is not.
You can literally go to the market and a see that DeGrom is above him in the market...which is organized by rating. Further more, he's a lefty in a lefty-crushing league. The only pitcher he would replace is Sale, which isn't going to happen, because I am not spending that kind of "money" on a lefty pitcher when my focus is completing collections for RP/CP pitchers. Are you keeping up junior?
