Patch question

I may have a very stupid question here. Do patches get downloaded and applied automatically or do I have to do it? I don’t think I have gotten a single patch yet, and there are issues I know are fixed that I want to see. Do I need to download them manually or something? I’m lost on the patching issues.

You can choose update later, but you cannot access online without the latest patch (I.e. can only play offline single player modes)

I’ve never seen an option to update. I’ve been able to login every time, but feel that some or all of the updates haven’t been applied. It’s odd. I’ll jump on now and see if it gives me that option or not since there was an update that went out
Still no option to update when I went into the game. Not sure what to do, or where to check.
