For years I’ve used normal swing until I have 2 strikes then I switch to contact swing. And I have ALWAYS been able to hit homeruns with contact swing if I square up the ball, This is nothing new guys...I think because streamers just discovered this it’s getting overblown. It’s always been this way, Nothing to change.

Let me put it another way...Ichiro Suzuki was a contact hitter, Definitely never swung for the fences - Yet he still hit 117 homers in his career. It happens, Call off the nerf police, Sheesh!

    This...

I complained about this so much during the tech test, I saw those huge pcis in HOF and Legend. It’s sad it wasn’t patched before launch

Yes, my problem with that is not only the homeruns they hit, it’s the flukes and all the foul tips. It feels like checkswings are back. You got to strikeout people 3 or 4 times per AB

I only use contact on 2 strikes. I use normal most of the time with power on some moments if I'm having trouble.

I think sometimes the way the game is playing out they want you to use different swing types. I try to change it up if I can’t find a hole anywhere.

@CodyWolfgang_MLBTS Agreed. I haven't played ranked yet so I haven't felt too much rage at other players just at myself.

Contact definitely needs nerfed (and it will be, they already said they were looking into patching it)

I just hit a homer with contact swing with 109 mph exit velo on legend. That’s definitely not right.

I play on ps5 i also have xbox so i downloaded it on gamepass, I play 95% on ps5 unless friday night when my friends all in party on xbox , People dont reliase contact swings are generated 110 mph exit velocitys on good hits every single time, in MLB 20 they generated 85 mph max but this year theres no difference between normal swing and contact swings in terms of exit velo i hit 11 homeruns in one game with it on shippett its way too overpowered because pci size on the swing is huge compared to normal swings

Compared to all the other dumb stuff some players do online, contact swings are fine.

In fact, contact swings are fine regardless. You don’t need to strike out every batter. In fact, ground [censored] are democratic and keep your pitch count down. Learn to throw strikes that don’t get hit out of the park? Play defense?

Complaining about contact swings is pretty soft, imo.

If a streamer said it then it must be right? Those guys are as dumb as it gets, especially the newer ones. The competition for views must be strong as these guys are all hype, but wrong a large majority of the time. Then some of you believe the [censored] they say, lose a game, and then come here to blame it on whatever new excuse is in fashion.

Wow. What you do not realize is that we also pay attention to our exit velocities and know what you are saying is BS. 110 mph every single good contact swing hit? LOL

I’m not arguing with you as I’ve been skeptical about this. Contact has always been useful in the game and I’ve hit bombs using contact in two strike counts before.

The kicker though, I hit a no doubter with Glavine last night on contact swing. My pitcher, with 11 pwr versus righties, hit a 407ft no doubter animation HR with a 97mph velo.

    It definitely got me thinking...

It absolutely needs to be nerfed. I played a guy on HOF who only took 6 pitches for [censored] the whole game. I stopped throwing pitches in the zone after the first inning. He probably contact swung 90% of the time. He had 8 bloops or bleeders with very early or very late timing and the batter analysis said he fouled off 46 pitches, most of which were out of the strike zone and with bad timing. I did not see him get any crazy exit velos, only one over 95 mph, but he did hit two home runs contact swinging that scraped over the wall on pitches out of the zone including a late timing homer. Its pretty frustrating when he had 4 good timing hits and is bailed out on bad swings and bad discipline. It feels like contact is being used as a crutch by people on higher difficulties
