Why must conquest games be disconnected?

Is there no way to save conquest games until the connection restores? I play DD mostly offline, and I am growing tired of losing games because of SDS's inability to keep a stable server. Seems like there should be an easy way to keep your progress locally until a connection is restored. Like Google Docs works. I suppose I ask too much. Just getting tired of having to replay games.

Nothing compared to when we had Conquest Extreme and you needed to do things within a specific amount of moves and server disconnect ended your turn and you had to start all over.
