Being 2-Way Breaks the Postseason Roster AI
-
So my player has stayed 2-way the whole time and is low 90s rating as an SP and mid 70s rating as a 2B (but I was still one of the top 3 hitters on the team during the season).
I started and pitched Game 163 which I won, and then I was slated to pitch G3 of the NLDS on the schedule. So, like I did all season when I wasn't slated to pitch, I activated my 2B archetype for G1/G2 and started at 2B in both games. I hit a homer or two, we won both of the games.
After G2, I noticed that I was no longer slated to pitch G3. I noticed also that if I looked at the team's "rotation" I was moved down to 5th and ranked based on my 2B archetype rating as opposed to my SP rating. I tried switching back to my SP archetype but I guess it's too late at that point, it had already made the decision that I was a bad SP and I wasn't gonna start.
For G3, I didn't start the game in the field and just pinch hit in the 7th. I hit a double. We won the game and swept the NLDS in 3 games.
After the victory celebration, the game said that I'd been removed from the postseason roster. My player won the Cy Young, MVP, and Rookie of the Year -- and got removed from the postseason roster?!?!
Despite the bugs I'd been having fun playing RTTS still, but this really left a sour taste in my mouth and I just don't see the point of playing RTTS anymore.
I think what happened is the game must be reevaluating the starting rotation more frequently in the playoffs and rather than ranking you based on our best pitching loadout they rank you based on your currently equipped loadout. I guess to avoid it from happening you should just keep your best loadout equipped even if it means then you're going to potentially be running the wrong loadout in game?

@Chalonverse_XBL - well, I'm sorry that happened to you. And I salute you for describing the situation with a much more gracious and calm demeanor than I would have. That just sucks being removed from the roster like that because SDS didn't improve the postseason scripting to account for the 2-way mode that they are basically shoving down all of our throats. Truly mind boggling.

Excellent post and description of problem feedback they need. They are very good at what they do and i hope you don't give up on it.

Yeah it’s silly. I decided to not try a 2 way player until I have SP Diamond, DH Diamond, and a position player Diamond archetypes of what I want. That way my overall should be high for all three. Also I want the gear to work in RTTS before it try 2 Way. I noticed this issue in regular season too getting moved up and down the batting order when my SP profile was loaded.

Same exact thing just happened to me. Went 20-2 in the season as a starter. 2-way player switching back and forth from starting and playing LF. Averaged .375-.410 throughout the season. Post season it would say I’d be pitching 3rd out of 5 game series or 4th in 7. After each game it would switch it. Ended up not pitching once and being taken off at the end of the second series. Lmao what a joke. MVP, Cy Young and Rookie but don’t even make a pitching appearance in the post season. Your comment was all I was hoping to look for. Who thought this play out would want to bring us back for a second season in rtts??? Idiots.
-
Yes I’m waiting for some bug fixes before I touch this. Playing pitcher or position player only right now works much better.

‘One of these posts is not like the others… one of these posts is just not the same…’

For what it's worth, I totally agree that this is a very serious bug. I do know from many years of playing this title, that making it to the Series in RTTS is no given thing. Even if you have the best player in the league, hard to overcome the AI of the GM sometimes. Very frustrating to get to the Series and not be able to play it.
IMO, anyone experiencing this should report the issue. You can report the issue here: https://theshow.sonysandiegostudio.games/hc/en-us/sections/1260801636690
-
I reported the issue yesterday, don't know if they'll reply but we'll see.
-
That's one of the reasons I deleted all my RTTS saves, deleted all my loadouts, and started over and chose NOT to be a 2-way player. I'll work on my SS archetypes until all grinded out, then I'll delete my RTTS save and start over with a new loadout and grind that out - rinse and repeat until I have all archetypes unlocked and maxed. Then create a new load-out to use in DD in whichever position I feel like playing.
-
Having the same issue. Reported the bug but I’m probably just hitting this postseason even tho I won cy young and mvp with a 1.3 era. For a game pushing so hard to make you choose to be a 2 way, it’s really clear this new feature still hasn’t been fleshed out
-
I am glad I am not the only one that this is happening to. It makes me not want to play the game.
-
This just happened to me last night. Was in season 4 with the club (they were terrible the previous 3!), and had a one year contract for $4.5M as an Ace starter (finished the season with a record of 26-1 with 570 SO and an ERA of 0.13).
After winning the division series my player was dropped to AA. The swift kick in the nether regions is that my team won the world series without me and the season ends....
Fast forward through off season and the club tries to offer me a payrate equivalent to a AA starter for one year (since that is where they placed me), of $2.2M. I countered back with $5.5M for one year and it went to arbitration where I seem to have won my case.
It just leaves a sour taste that you cant get rid of especially since you grind through 4 seasons for nothing...
-
I am sure they know that this is a known issue. So, why are they not fixing this problem?
-
Same issue. Cy Young and Hank Aaron award candidate and taken off postseason roster
-
Same thing happened to me… how annoying
-
Being a two-way player in RTTS, and RTTS as a whole, is so broken this year. It’s annoying, but this is the first year that they’ve done this two-way thing for RTTS. Just like the create-a-stadium feature, it’s got off to a rocky start and they’ll need to fix it next year.
-
The EXACT SAME THING JUST HAPPENED TO ME. MVP/.531, 76HR, 200RBI. CY YOUNG/ 25-0, 514SO, 0.26ERA. Rookie of the yr all that! And I'm removed from the roster!? A yr and a half grinding in the Minors. A yr in the majors. It's gon be hard to play this game again right now

This is actually straight [censored] and [censored] up on SDS

OP is from May of this year? It’s September now. I was just removed from the MLB roster just after I had pitched 2 straight W’s to win the ALCS. One no-hitter (my first), and the second throwing an immaculate 9th inning (9 strikes, 3ks) to shutout the series. Immediately following the game I was removed from the MLB roster for the World Series, which we then lost. I was a 92 ovr Starting Pitcher. It didn’t give me the chance to change my load out before the next game. It just removed me from the roster. 2 years in the minors. 1 year in the majors. .311 batting average, 70 rbis, 1.29 era with 200+ K’s. The next season starts with my team trading two of our all stars. Oh and without a message I had been moved back up to the majors. I guess it just wanted to script me losing the WS after the two best games of my career.
I cannot, for the life of me, think of a more mishandled sports video game. Like I said, it’s been 3 months since OP. Not sure I’ll ever play another The Show. It took me over a month IRL to get to the position where the game would (without cause or logic) strip me the benefit of playing the most meaningful series in the sport of baseball. With all of the work put into this game, it is an absolute travesty that this is a mechanic that STILL has not been addressed. My madness is unbridled and I hope my experience is one-off. But now I realize it’s been the norm for months. [censored] you all.
