So, I'm sure this has been mentioned in a few places but I haven't seen it on here yet, but it seems as though we won't be seeing the following Legends as part of Diamond Dynasty this year that we had in the previous year:
Ted Williams
Rogers Hornsby
Ty Cobb
Andre Dawson
Omar Vizquel
Mark Buehrle
Jason Istringhausen
Dave Kingman
Steve Bedrosian
Dennis Martinez
Benito Santiago
Keith FoulkeThis of course isn't official by any means but the Legends roster has almost always been a pretty good indication of who SDS didn't renew their usage rights with.
Personally, I'm gutted by the inclusion of Mark Buehrle on this list, as I was someone who requested his inclusion in the game for what felt like so long before finally seeing him included in MLB The Show 20. Unfortunately, he got a pretty subpar Signature Series in the latter half of the game's life-cycle which meant he wasn't going to see a ton of use. With The Show 21's new "Milestone" series cards, Buehrle could've been given a much better and more useful card earlier in the year and may have actually been pretty good. So it's a shame we won't be seeing him moving forward.
Also really bummed about losing Andre Dawson and Omar Vizquel. Dawson has almost always been one of my end-game outfielders and at the very least, best bench bats in the game. Vizquel didn't see a follow-up to his excellent Signature Series card from MLB The Show 19 which was an absolute bummer, in my opinion. I had just about every card in The Show 19 and that Vizquel was literally my end-game shortstop.
Is there any proof to this at all?
He qualified that this isn’t official, only an educated guess based on the legends roster. The speculation of Williams, Hornsby and Cobb have been around pre launch.
-
Sucks to lose the first 4 on that list, that said what they have been replaced with would seem like a fair trade off so far in my opinion

Not bashing on Buehrle, he pitched for my Jays and was one of the most liked and respected players in the game. But to be fair, any card of his would never play necessarily well in the game because velocity rules. Look at Maddux from last year. He was useable but even prestiged he would get lit up against good competiton because he could never blow anyone away. It’s kinda sad but it’s the reality of this game
-
I really hope Rogers Hornsby isn't gone. That card really hit for me the last two years... Ty Cobb was awesome for me as well
-
First 4 are bummers. Buehrle and Dennis Martinez were released too late late year which sucks. Isringhousen, Bedrosian, and Foulke never even got good cards. Not going to miss Kingman and Benito was always just there. Vizquel likely removed because of the DV charges
-
Sucks..Cobb was my favourite hitter last year..and Hornsby was the best offensive 2bag in the game...
-
Cobb and Hornsby were great cards. Won't miss the others.
-
In other news, Phil Neikro is on that roster

He always has been, just not in DD

Ty Cobb was my favorite in the game.
-
I liked Cobb's swing a lot, but outfield options are going to be stacked this year.

Same! I flipped when he came out in one of the inning programs last year (I think it was 7th inning?). He was always my leadoff man and I can't imagine playing this game without him.
They could make up for it by releasing a better Signature Trammell or giving us Magglio Ordonez.
-
Big bummer! Ted Williams always a goat

Yea my Maddux had sub 2.25-2.50 era last year online and was probably my #1. It’s all how you use him like it is with every other card
-
Honestly I wish they would omit certain “favorite players” one year. Like I love using certain cards but it gets stale as hell using them every single year. We have so many good options why not leave say Jr off the roster for one year. Think we would want it hell of a lot more the following year and gives us one less annual option to have to not use just because.
Exp. why is Konerko always a [censored] TA option for the Sox. How about Baines or Ventura. Like I don’t want to use freaking Konerko for the 5th year in a row

Shoot gold maddux is my best so far this year. I need to try out Fernando, it seems from my experience that off speed is meta this year. My fastballs all get hammered and most people I have played cannot hit change, slide or curves unless the game forces a hang

Yeah well we didn’t pinpoint pitching last year either. That mode alone allows any pitcher to be usable now.

I shall miss The Rajah. I may create a memorial patch for my unis.

That hasn't necessarily been the case in The Show 21, at least not yet. I saw the other day that CBrev had the 95 OVR Tom Glavine as the overall best starting pitcher in the game as of what had been released so far. And while I agree, by no means would a Buehrle card ever be in anyone's end-game rotation, I do think there was potential for a "Milestone" series card to have some usefulness, especially if it were released around this time of the year.
