oh yeah, I care. DIdn't see this thread before now. It didn't happen but Matz for the Jays had no-hit stuff during a 7-inning game last week. I hated the idea he might actually do it, for no credit. MLB's website is actually saying things like 'Madison's no-no' and such so you can tell they're pushing the narrative that it's sort-of legit, but we know the record-keepers have decided no. I agree in the sense that I want 9-inning games in a doubleheader!!!! Jeez, is that too much to ask? Guys losing their no-no bids because someone decided a 7-inning game was a good idea? I'm steaming right now.

It's not Mad Bums fault the game is 7 innings, He showed up, and showed the f out. If the MLB is going to say double headers are going to be 7 innings, then they need to recognize no-nos and perfectos that happen in 7 inning games IMO.

Just another stupid Manfred decision. I swear this guy hates baseball. All these ridiculous changes....pitch clocks, runner on second to start extras, 7 inning double headers...why do people who clearly hate the game we all grew up with get put into positions to make these stupid decisions?

MLB made a definitive decision about 25 or 30 years ago that a no-hitter must be 9 innings. A couple of short-game no hitters were taken off the record books. With that as the definition of a no-hitter, then there should be no official 7 inning games like there are this year or the definition should be changed again.

I definitely understand the reasoning for it not counting. Verlander has had at least 5 no hitters broken up in the 8th or 9th. Why should 7 inning no hitters count? It isn't fair to the many pitchers that have lost no hitters in the 8th or 9th inning. I don't think 7 inning complete games should count either though personally

Yeah I agree the 9 inning definition should stand. The toughest part of the accomplishment is those last 2 innings where the pitcher is exhausted (physically and mentally) and the batters have all seem him at least twice and perhaps three times. I just don't agree with league mandated 7 inning games for double headers. Day-night double headers and use your bench.

I don't want any 7-inning games at all. Horrible idea, especially when they knew any records like this wouldn't count. Not to mention, has anyone ever seen a game turn around in the 8th or 9th inning? Jeez.

The rule that really changed the game was the buster posey rule. Johnny Bench would of made it to the HOF just on his ability to block the plate.
