While I haven’t tried it yet, I wonder why they don’t just keep hitting the way it is and jack up the pitch speeds to 16 level with smaller pcis. I’m still a believer that hitter/pitcher dynamic of 16 was the best. 20 would be if the speeds were realistic with the current ball physics and timing Windows. Just my 2 cents
I completely agree. Does SDS not get it, or do they purposely reduce skill gap when they see casual players losing interest?
I couldn’t really tell you. I’m not exactly sure what their objective was with this patch (whether they’re trying to shrink the skill gap to keep casuals playing, or to make the game more difficult). If it’s trying to attack the difficulty, based off what others have shared, they missed on this patch. I just don’t understand why increasing pitch speeds and shrinking PCIs wouldn’t have been their first adjustment instead of messing with timing windows and whatever else they touched.

While it’s true that I felt it was too easy to hit right now, I thought the system in place was very good/rewarding. Adjustments with pitch speeds and pci sizes seem to be much easier to adjust without messing with the way the game plays than what they appeared to have done.
I don’t even really want to get started on the pitching stuff because I’ve still had plenty of success pitching wise, but yeah it’s pretty bad in terms of random locations with good user input. Also, if I was down a few runs it didn’t faze me because I could put up a crooked number with good input hitting wise. Seems like that’s no longer the case at the moment.

"IF"... he hasn't even played the new patch lmao
His tweet is pretty emphatic. You can grasp at straws all you like but “Especially when EVERYONE loved the hitting! It was unanimously loved. I actually can't even comprehend why anybody would complain when it was obviously the best gameplay we had in years. Now we're close to another black hole with all these risky patches.”. Doesn’t leave much room.
I think the patch should have never happened. But no need to exaggerate, it wasn't "unanimously" loved. There were a ton of people saying Im GiViNg Up To MaNy hR
that was because pitching was trash

Did you say [censored] or [censored].

Offline XP has been reduced too. Meanwhile I can't get Eck because of the bugs
The bottom line for me is that If I can't get to 300 stars in the first inning, with the added points I will earn doing the full US map in conquest then I am probably done with the game.
It will remind me of '18 when after one month I realized that there was no chance I was even going to be able to earn 1 immortal so I simply quit.
For me I am going to get there just on sheer hours of game play, because I sucked at Showdown before the patch.
In what mode though? The problem for offline players, one that the online players do not really have to deal with, is that once we have completed the inning specific Conquest and Showdown (if you can finish it) and any player programs like the one for Granderson then there is nothing left to do but grind meaningless games for the sake of XP.
In Ranked Seasons, and even Events gamers are playing for a purpose, to improve their rank and earn better rewards. If you play offline all that is left is to play "vs CPU" games that have no point or re-running the US conquest map and earn another 10 pack of bronze and common cards.
I got two golds and Bregman out of that 10 pack, I was surprised this the only year I got good cards from that 10 pack. I got Yates from set 1 headliner pack, and Walker Buehler from set 2 headliner pack. I finished all the CQ maps, I finished Granderson, I am not going to waste 500 stubs to play showdown. MTO takes like 10 hours to do. Online is frustrating with two many errors and glitches. I am left to moments and grinding innings for Affinity. I did not play 16 until the end of the year. 17 was the best for pitching.
Nice. I think I got like 3 silvers out of that 10 pack. I actually had 17 packs to open from all the missions I finished up first time through and they were terrible.
Yeah, I know I will go good at times and bad at times with opening packs,

That's awesome. I've opened 90+ packs and gotten 8 golds and zero diamonds...
Yeah it is. It is a risk with the headliners but I done good so far. I think it is a better to open headliners than a 50 pack. 7,500 vs 75,000 even if I would have pulled one of the diamond I have I would have only made back 20,000 at most if I decided to list it on the market. The new Animation for the diamonds is pretty cool.

I'm with you here Dolenz. As an offline only player, MLB the 20 had already put the shaft to us....not is even worse. If this reduced XP thing is true.....i'll probably just play Franchise back in THe SHow 19 and delete 20.....What a shame....could have been SO great!

I hear what you're saying, and I play a lot offline and usually grind all the programs, moments, showdown and conquest. But when you say that offline only has those things....that's a lot. The online players only have the games to play 3 ways (Ranked, BR and events) So, essentially, after finishing all those offline things, the same applies for offliners, they only have the game to play. That's why you play, isn't it? If you're playing for rewards, those are in the inning programs and the XP path, the same goes for onliners.

Imagine that. A competitive player is upset that the patch messed with his attempt to be a perfect player.
This is exactly what I was saying before. These guys who are completitive want everything to be so they can dominate the casuals and hit easier HRs. I'm glad it messed him up.
Doesn't it mean that if its harder for him, it will also be harder for players like you and I?

"We are going to take a few days worth of telemetry, when everyone is playing on the easiest difficulties, mix that in with some player complaints and abandon all the telemetry we gathered and work we did prior to launch."HAHA. Yes. 2 freaking days.

what is wrong with this SDS crew?? they tout changes, spent months on revamping, then in one 45mb patch blow the whole thing to [censored] after we all spend time and real money to get cards. what a louse move. yet every year, every single year we get excited about all the new changes only to see them bugged or patched over and rendered useless within a couple weeks of release. this digital era has ruined games. it allows the devs to constantly mess around and keep users chasing the changes. i miss the days of the cartridge. it would keep meddlesome devs out of our games.
