Been thinking about doing the same, been flipping with a little success so im about halfway there, trying to be disciplined and not do team collections of any sort unless they pay for themselves with rewards until I get him.
Yeah, this thread is kinda talking me into saving up for Trout too. But I have a loooong way to go. Only team collection I’ve done so far is the Twins because I had to have Kirby Puckett on my team.

How that's Puckett play? Looks like a good card.

I did the same yesterday. 331k....hurts my stub count but the BR rewards help.

Tigers, mariners, giants, pirates, orioles for me, like I mentioned the rewards basically pay for them, might do a couple more like rangers, royals but keep my eye on the prize.

Original power is meh, but once he is tier 2 or higher he starts rolling. And hits hard line drives from anywhere in the zone. And fielding is as good out of the gate vs a End game Mays or Griffey.

With the parallax program he will be useable the entire year only being replaced by a better version of himself. Hats off to SDS for the program. They found a way to make live series cards viable for much longer.
No, actually he won't. Every card, except for cap, gets pxp. Trout gets leveled up, but so do they making it a wash. Now, I do agree that LS cards will be viable longer, but when an elite Mays, Griffey, etc., comes out for the outfield, he comes out and the work begins to level them up.
Yes, actually he will. His card at level 5 will be usable all year. There's no debate
Again, no he won't. That same plus 5 pxp also applies to elite 99s, leaving the gap right where it started. If you want to play a card that's inferior to them, that's your prerogative.

He wasnt comparing it to anything. He only mentioned it being usable all year. You don't need to explain card levels to me. Try reading.

Pulled a few diamonds that got me close to 280k, sold everything else I could to bring be to 330k. Put in a buy order last night and here he is this morning. Now I’m broke, but atleast I have a gatekeeper and someone I should be able to roll with most of the year.
I did the same yesterday... I flipped enough to get over 300K, and just took the plunge. The rest of my team is hot garbage, but now with Trout it’s more like... lukewarm garbage. Levelling him up is what convinced me to go for him first, plus at least a guy like him makes things like the national map Conquest grind more tolerable. Zero regrets.

That was the first team I finished. Loving Kirby up

Yea he is 350+ as of this morning. So glad I did it, I actually just hit 1st inning boss reward so sold that for like 50-60k, whatever it was, completed the angels and got that 95 lefty. Wont be able to play anymore until Sunday afternoon so going to miss most of that double xp weekend, but figured the bosses prices will continue to drop and then I can pick up piazza.

I couldn’t hit with him at all at first. There is always that one card that seems to get tough pitches when others don’t and that was Puck for me. Finally starting to hit with him the last 4-5 conquest games and first HR with him too. Easily worth having for a Twins homer like me.

The parallel system only delays the inevitable but it sure is a cool concept ad does make the high end cards able to compete with the 99's for a few weeks longer. I am waiting for someone to lvl up a common to tier 5 would love to see that.
use a good common you like when doing CQ and it will level up

Nice. Here's hoping we get more good cards from the 80s - early 2000s like Hrbek, Gagne, Gladden, Gaetti, Morneau, etc.

They pump his stats as the year goes plus he has crazy active perks that only Live series card can get. That'd what makes him viable all year.

Kirby never really was known for his power so it’s cool to see he hits liners all day. I think it’s the best part of this game so far. Cards like this are actually useful where in years past they were useless

As soon as i posted earlier and went in game and just destroyed a ball over fence. But yeah it looks like there will be a place in the lineup for pure cont hitters and mediocre power guys that can clear bases with line drive gappers.
