Myself, and at least several other users have a weird issue completely stalling our RTTS player promotion progression, and as it currently sits we'll never make it to the majors.

My RTTS player played a single position for 200+ AA and AAA games (Right Field) in the Met's organization, and during my AAA time the manager comes to me and tells me that at the majors, that position is filled in the organization, but he'll see what he can do about getting me my shot.

Afterwards, my manager changes my player's position in the lineup to First Base (for whatever reason) and immediately after he did so, my player was traded to the Rays organization as a Right Fielder.

After being traded, this new/wrong position sticks - and the new manager always pencils my player in the lineup in that position (First Base). However, before the first inning in the field, my player is immediately subbed out for a defensive replacement by the real first baseman. Regardless of what changes I make to my player's settings, he is always penciled in at first base.

Looking at the roster for the Ray's AAA affiliate, and I am listed as the only right fielder, and there is already a first baseman. When I view my player details outside of RTTS, it is listed as a first baseman now. The only time I get an at bat is if we are the visiting team, and if we make it to my spot in the order within the top of the first inning.

Because of this bug, even if I sim the entire season, I get at most about 20 ABs for an entire season - thus insuring that I never make it to the majors. I've posted to the subreddit, tweeted, and submitted a bug report. Just thought I'd post here for others who may have the same issue and to see if others have been able to get out of this loop. I have more than 8.5 hours in RTTS on this save, so this sucks.

TL;DR - A bug happens that swaps my player's position, and during that swap I am traded to a team that already has that position filled, so I never get to play. I am substituted out in the first inning of every game, and because of this the most ABs I get for an entire season is about 20, and I never get to play defense.

This is happening to me as well playing for the Mets. They switched me from 2nd to 3rd. Everything you wrote is spot on except I was not traded. I am still on the Mets. Sometime i get one at bat before I field and they replace me. Literally at a stand still. I also put in a ticket for this

I think this is a bigger problem because you can’t have a secondary position because of the whole 2 way player thing.

It happened to me for one game with the Mets, but I just thought it was because I had been traded - as once the game finished, is when the trade occurred. So, I do agree that this likely would have happened had I been traded or not.

I did start out as a two-way player, but as I was really only playing RTTS for the achievements, I knew pitching every five games would take way too long to progress to the majors.

Here is another thread I found - https://forums.theshow.com/topic/30496/stuck-in-rtts-keep-getting-pulled

It looks like @puppychili_PSN and @FlanderBurger_XBL also have the issue.

Just as a note, I started as a two way player but I am a fielder only now. Didn't want to play as a pitcher in rtts.

Even if you tell the manager the several times they ask you that you only want position play, if you look at you player card it will still have SP secondary. This keeps you from having another position and I think that is part of the issue the OP put. Like if my primary is CF but my MLB team is good at CF, I should be able to play LF or RF if the team needs one but you can’t have secondary position as OF because you are stuck with SP from the storyline. It’s short sighted on devs part.

100% this. In what world are outfielders not interchangeable? Especially LF and RF? It is like they don't even watch baseball. They shouldn't even make you pick LF, CF, and RF - they should just have OF, and then your stats and/or preference dictates where you can play. If you have more speed, then you can play center, if you have a better arm, right, etc.

Same for me. I pitched one game and then saw how long it took and decided to tell the manager that I didn't want to pitch.

This entire thread illuminates to me just how poorly SDS really thought through the ramifications of the universal player/archetype/program system with forced two-way player hard coded which they have implemented this year. I said in a different post (https://forums.theshow.com/topic/30991/a-path-forward-how-sds-could-fix-this-mess) that one of the things SDS needs to do is give players back control over what their secondary positions are.

I see that everyone else posting on this thread is showing Xbox accounts. Just in case you all are brand new to this title - forced position changes (especially for younger players) have been a part of RTTS for a long, long time. In some year's versions you could fight it and refuse the new position and get benched until eventually you caved. In other year's versions you could fight it and the manager would just change your position anyway. Which is why in previous versions experienced players would select as a secondary position one which they also would be interested in and their build type be appropriate for - something which unfortunately we can no longer do.

With regards @Groux_XBL - is the archetype you were using at the time of the trade one which is appropriate to RF but not to 1B? I'm wondering because theoretically if the archetype determines what positions you are eligible for, then the manager should have only changed you to one of those.

In any case, sounds like a really nasty bug. Sorry you guys are experiencing this. I would recommend going back and playing a previous version of the game (which is what I'm doing for the forseeable future) but given that you are Xbox users guess you really don't have that option.

Yeah Moose I honestly don't care about changing position. I just want to not get pulled right away lol. Basically rtts is unplayable right now. My archetype is sparkplug so it works for 3rd too, one of the first things I checked and tried putting other on to no avail. Thanks for the insight. I figured at some point they would ask me to switch as my team has a good 2nd player.

It isn't just Xbox users having the issue, there are some PS players on Reddit with it as well. I'm fine with changing positions, but the bug was that I was traded out of my position to a team that already had that position filled.

It is very weird, because when I view the archetype outside of Road to the show, I show up as a first baseman. When I am in the locker room, in RTTS I am labeled RF. Then when I load into a game, I am a 1B in the lineup. So, it is all over the place.

Yeah, I don't care either. I literally only want to get called to the majors for the achievement. Once I get called to the majors, I'm done with RTTS - outside of when I need to play to complete quests.

I read on True Achievements that the fastest way to the majors is to play LF for the Orioles, or SP for the Pirates, so I may just reroll and get it over with... because it doesn't seem like SSD is quick with fixing game breaking bugs. I'm just irked I lost over eight hours of gameplay progress.

I got tired of waiting, and just created a new build and started over.

I was able to Make it to the Show in about 85 games as an Orioles LF (68 OVR, Sparkplug, Bronze Contact 2, Gold Speed I). It was about 55 games at AA, and 30 games at AAA. It took about five hours of gameplay.

Thanks for wasting my time, SDS!

Same problem, got switch from 2nd to 3rd, got traded to Yankees org. and they kept me at 3rd base when im a SS.
They traded me because the SS position was filled in SD ( Tatis ) so I expected to be traded then be put back to SS but they kept me at 3rd even after the trade so I assume its something that needs to be fixed.
