    Question for the experienced players.

Watched the DD stream. Kept hearing them discuss collections. I’m coming from Madden Ultimate Team (as previously mentioned in another thread). Over there, more often than not, sets/collections were a waste of time and coins (their currency). You were just better off buying the set card. Is that the case in MLB The Show? Or is it more rewarding to go the set route?

If that’s the case, best to hold every card you pull even if they don’t make the starting lineup? Or sell some and keep some? Thanks guys! T-MINUS 5 HOURS!

In years prior, you couldn't buy the collection reward. They didn't mention otherwise so I only assume the same rules apply for 21.

Gotcha! So in other words, collections are a necessity in MLB. That’s cool. Just wanted to make sure i wasn’t throwing away cards early in the game and need them later.

Live Series cards you shouldn't worry about too much. They'll always be a steady supply of those.

The one's you're going to want to play close attention to are the inning rewards, ranked season rewards, and daily mission rewards (like the Giambi). As programs get updated and replaced, the supply of those cards drops precipitously. The reason you'll want to hold on to them is there's usually a mega-collection released halfway through the year where you'll have wanted to hold on to all those cards.

    2019 was 99 Honus Wagner.
    2020 was 99 Trout.

Get 'em before they cycle out and you'll save yourself a lot of stubs.

anyone else disappointed in the rewards? I mean Chipper is good but I expected Clemente, Martinez, Aaron or another legend. Same with Soriano. He was a great player but I wouldn't call him a HOF'er.

Unlike in Madden, when you lock a player in Collections in MLB The Show, you keep the player... you just can't sell him anymore.
In MUT, you complete a set. Player disappears, you gotta get him again.

This stood out to me during the reveal. Kind of a W in my opinion

the difference between MLB and other ultimate team game modes is that MLB showers you with cards and coins just for playing the game, so any player could collect the main collection in a couple months.
