Quick Question? What about folks with disibilities like muscular dystrophy or something that effects reaction should those folks be excluded from making it fair to compete?
Yes; that’s why there’s Special Olympics.
Very rude!! Get the hell outta here! Punk!
How is that rude? People with disabilities compete at the special Olympics to make the competition level fair for them..
How is it rude? By implying that the only sports people with dissabilities can partake in is the Special Olympics! I find it very rude and racist toward people with disabilities.
Same thing people said to Jackie Robinson . "That's what the Negro League is for!" Same exact premise and i am apauled.
“Racist towards people with disabilities”
I wasn’t aware disabled is a race, but whatever.
I believe the poster meant to say ableist, which is exactly how I took the comment as well. This thread is a perfect example of the "toxicity" that I see in online gaming.
Thank you! sorry i wasn't specific, but i did think it was obvious to most people with a brain and common sense.
The special olympics is there in fact for people with disabilities because they cannot preform at the level of actual olympians. It’s to include people with disabilities because they fall way short of the level of competition and skill that is needed to compete at a high level. Equating that to race is a whole different thing. The negro leagues where excluding people based on a racial identity that were at the same or higher level of skill. Apples and oranges.
Only response i will give this is i am not gonna entertain this closeminded post.
Closed minded? I think In reality. And I’m not trying to virtue signal with how woke I think I am.
You are completely out of touch if you think the struggle of black Americans in baseball is anywhere near remotely comparable to the special olympics. They are completely different things. One is inclusion of the less fortunate the other is the exclusion based on identity.
They are literal opposites. But keep virtue signaling a lot of us see through it
I am on to how you post. You read it then you put your own little spin to it taking everything out of context. I guess to get upvotes i don't know. But go read your discussions see for yourself, everything is an arguement to you.
I'ts kinda pathetic and all the more reason to block you because i am literally tired of reading the bs that you call reality.
I call ppl on BS and I tell it how it is. I know...rare. Where I grew up and how I grew up that was normal. I’m not looking to argue. You make ridiculous claims.
You compared the special olympics to the Negro leagues before dude. Talk about offensive. Shows how completely out of touch you are with the actual struggle that took place during the civil rights movement. You minimized the civil rights movement casually and i can’t call you out on it? I think I can.
We can respectfully disagree. You are extremely sensitive man.
Yup i went back and read it. You completely took it out of context. Maybe your reading Comprehension isn't at the level you think it is? There is a program that came out in the 70's you should check it out.
It's called "hooked on phonics!" check it out then maybe you could be the new poster boy that runs around singing the jingle. "I learned my ABC's ..... Because hooked on phonics worked for me!"

The argument here that numbers can accurately break down and make players play true to life is not completely accurate.
I just finished a Strat-O-Matic league, which if you aren't familiar, is fantasy baseball using real life player statistics and computing then into a formula to run a simulation.
We used players spanning from the last 100+ years including Negro league players. Someone has Barry Bonds from 2001 the year he broke the single season HR record. That year he slashed .328/.515/.863 with the 73 HR in 664 ABs. This league didn't use all high caliber pitchers as there were budget restrictions. In this league Bonds slashed . 277/.451/.749 with 83 HR in 663 ABs.
So a program based purely on numbers with zero human input variable had Bonds hitting 51 points lower, OBP 64 points lower, and slugging 114 points lower.
There is not a way you could program a console game with user input to accurately reflect the real life ball player being used.

I actually read and write official legal documents for a living, so my reading and writing is pretty good.
But interesting how you are so quick to mock someone’s reading ability on one hand and on the other get offended when someone references the special olympics.
Humble of you. No sensitivity for the reading disabled? How “racist”

Why don't people just shut the hell up in this thread if it doesn't belong in here?

This discussion has taken a turn for the worst because things are being taken and directed personally. As I’ve not been involved I’ll give an outsider’s point of view. For no reason other than to hopefully bring us all together, so to speak.
I get the impression that the initial response from Grizz was a reaction to the perceived suggestion that ‘yes’ (direct quote) people with disabilities such as muscular dystrophy (the example used) should be excluded from the mainstream competitive play in MLB The Show.
I’m sure the suggestion was not intended to be inflammatory or exclusionary, just putting forward an idea that works in the real world.
This of course isn’t the real world, so there’s no reason that competitive play needs to exclude those with disabilities.
In education, we make ‘reasonable adjustments’ so that students with disabilities have equal opportunities to learn and have their skills assessed. Adjustments could be to the work area, the delivery method, timing... a whole range of things that equalise opportunity.
It’s most certainly not about making achievement any easier. So in a game such as this there could be things like controller configuration, adaptive controllers or custom controllers, UI changes, haptic feedback, sounds...
This is a game. There’s an argument for having separate competitive modes based on choice of input methods for sure (however with the transparency that SDS is moving towards in terms of input feedback maybe that’s no longer necessary). But exclusion (which I don’t think was the intention of the suggestion in the first place anyway) is not certainly not necessary.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. Who’s looking forward to the RTTS changes?
-
Yea @GrizzBear55_PSN lets just move forward and have positive vibes. We always get toxic towards eachother we have different views all good.
Let’s talk baseball.
-
So I am still a little split on this topic.
Why go through the grind of building diamond dynasty team and buffing all their stats, if when you play online it defaults to competitive mode and makes your stats pointless?
If it's all stick skills wouldn't I play just as good with a team of non-upgraded players as I would with a team of players buffed to the max? -

In hitting outcomes, being that said good input will be rewarded more than it was in TS20 and it will be rewarded according to the player attributes, that’s why grinding for better cards will not be a waste of time. -
Once again people, stop dealing in absolutes. No one from SDS has said that cards don't matter. Hitting with a 99 overall is going to be very different than hitting with a 60 overall. If people can't see that then I don't think there is anymore to say on that.
