This year game (2020) relies too much on homeruns to score resulting in homerun festivals. Contact hitters like Kenny Lofton are useless despite having great all around attributes (minus the arm strength lol). SDS said that they were going to fix the problem but failed to do so. In my opinion, separate hitting mechanics are needed for both contact and power hitters. Contact hitters should have specific hitting mechanics allowing them to put the ball in play without trying to hit for power. The current 3 dots system is clearly not enough to separate both contact and power hitters. Am I right ?

I don't think contact hitters are useless. They just aren't as good as the other cards. Gwynn, Lofton, Brujan and even Victorino are fun cards to use, they are just outclassed by cards that have 100+ across the board

I hit many perfect perfect fly balls with Lofton and Gwynn just to see them die in the middle of the outfield. I think hitting perfect perfect fly balls with contact hitters should always reach the gap . Contact hitters should always try to hit for the gap because they know they don’t have the power to hit homeruns. That’s why new hitting mechanics are needed to make contact hitters viable. Don’t get me wrong I love hitting homeruns but I like hitting doubles and triples as well.

I agree with OP there is something quirky going on. These stand out the most as players that should be hitting to gaps in regards to comparison to hr hitters.

And of course some of it is b/c of user but guys like Tony and Kenny kept game alive or were rally starters. I don't feel that with them seems like opposite they hit into double plays or fly out in my experience.

Feel like only have them on my bench in case i need a pinch runner

Rod Carew may be one of the best hitting cards in the game imo

Would you suggest contact getting a boost?

Not a boost but adding new hitting mechanics for contact hitters to allow them to hit for the gap more consistently.

You could play at Forbes Field or Griffith Stadium and that would make contact hitters more usable

Contact hitters should be effective in all stadiums. Especially in online play when you don’t get to play at home every time.

I did not even bother trying to build my slap gap squad this year.

only true way to get more variety in online games would be to force people to use zone plus analog with stride hitting. a lot more strikeouts and badly timed strides resulting in odd looking swings and hits.

    never gonna happen.

No wonder I can't hit for nothing online. I use zone analog and stride. I may need to change but hitting with buttons feel unnatural to me.

if you can find a good league with balks on you should be fine. they need to turn balks on to even the playing field for stride players. it's not fair.

I love zone analog stride hitting so I am going to keep battling with it. It's tough for me though.

me too. i am getting an xbox because i think the controller is more comfortable and the left stick is higher up. but yeah DD is very hard with stride analog. i got as far as championship this year but after that guys are constantly balking and quick pitching it's just too hard to stay balanced.
