I still don’t understand why prestige players are relevant to strictly offline gamers. I’ve said this before but is that +3 attributes really needed to battle the cpu?
The CPU on Rookie / Veteren in conquest etc is not the same if you have a complete bronze lineup and a complete diamond lineup. Remember the first week or so when you started with a pretty crappy lineup and won games like 10-1 etc.... well fill your full lineup with diamonds on same level and you may still get that 10-1 ... the modifier definitely seems to play a role. So 5 prestiged cards with those extra points does help a bit.
There are plenty of dudes who just aren't on thr same level as others. I personally can't hit with zone hitting, I just can't. Inuae directional and it makes the game more enjoyable for ME.
I like getting better cards because the stats matter, and I also need all the help I can get. I understand all the good players use zone, dominate at all levels, etc... but you have to remember there are more of us than there are of them.
While we may not stream, we still play, and we still spend money, at least I do. While you may think it trivial, give me the prestige cards, give me conquest, and some give me some good beers and I'm gonna have a fantastic evening.
You know, I don’t question anybody’s right to enjoy the game however they choose. I am hardly a pci placement god.
That said, I don’t like the idea that someone can prestige a card by grinding against the cpu on veteran.
How is that prestigious?

Some people like to collect all the cards.
Yeah, I get that, but it kinda doesn’t make sense to me if you’re not ever going to use them against an opponent.
I'd ask if the +3 boosts actually made that much of a difference against real players either?
I never would have prestiged a player. But it would be a nice option to have for some of my favorite players.

In some cases, the +3 puts the player into a better fielding category or H/9 or whatever.
You could argue that that helps vs cpu too but it’s just not the same level of competition.
I don’t think players should be able to prestige a card offline vs the cpu on veteran and then reap benefits online vs actual opponents.
The game is already so wacky at the lower tiers online.

It helps pitchers for the velo boost for fastballs/reduction for offspeed and to cross fielding thresholds, but thats it. +3 to power, contact, vision, speed aren't anything but a placebo effect IMO

It is referring to the card having higher or prestigious stats, not the person using it is prestigious or requires some title. Would it change your mind if we called "offline player card increases"
You dont like the idea, that I could possibly grind my offline card, in offline game modes, to use against the computer.... offline? How does this have any effect on your game?
I dont play against other people, I play offline modes or against my friends when they come over. You will never see me or my inferior "prestige" card in any way. Let the people who want to play online, play online. Let the people who want to play offline, play offline.
-
I just think it is a lot harder to accumulate innings pitched, strikeouts, hits, XBH, runs, and RBI vs real opponents online.
If there were cards prestige-able offline, there would be nothing preventing that player from using that card online.
It’s like the straightedge kid with a wristband at an over 19 punk rock show. Once he is in the venue, the wristband is not going to prevent him from drinking.

Then make my offline grinded card only usable in offline modes, or make offline grind only available at same difficulty required for online difficulty. It's as simple as that. The only concern I have is that I'm forced to play online for a card that Iwould only use offline in the first place.
Not sure why "level playing field" is such a worry in this game anyway when I can just drop a couple hundred bucks and create a massive advantage.
I do that anyway, but I think I maybe played 20 online games in the last 3 years so it's not like I'm doing it to create some online disadvantage for you.
-
Other games do this and I don't understand why. Don't force PvE players into PvP activities, and vice versa. Just give two methods of obtaining the card/weapon/item/etc....

Making offline grindable prestige cards only useable offline, as you suggest, I have no problem with (although as I said I don’t get the motivation).
Now, as to your second suggestion about equivalent difficulty, that is problematic, imo, because AS online is closer to HOF pitch speeds offline, etc. The difficulties don’t match up.
Even if they did (which would be a good thing), unfortunately, playing online, especially in the 4-500 range, is filled with toxic gameplay and exploits, not to mention challenging connection issues, etc.
There just really isn’t any common ground between offline play and online play, which is a problem.

Your point is legitimate. It is already bad enough that you can spend money on a great team and be competitive even now, in February. I mean, from a certain POV, that is a good thing, but unfortunately, the gameplay is such (especially at the lower levels) that user input doesn’t make enough of a difference, and that is not good for anyone, imo.
