Is there I can make my players run out ground [censored] to the infield? I feel like they jog a lot when they could beat stuff out.

I’ve found that mashing the controller on the floor several times helps.......

Otherwise, they go to first at the rate of speed per their attributes

So ground to third or drop third strike with Griffey and he just jogs to first, there’s no way to make him actually run?

That’s the animation from the programming, no user input. If it makes you feel any better, that’s at least one consistent thing for everyone.....

Pretty realistic to MLB baseball honestly.

Half of them do not even run on a drop third strike they just turn and look at the ump or start walking back the bench

They wouldnt make it. If they started to run the fielder, usually catcher, would just throw the ball instead of reading the label first.

Exactly. A lot of people don't realize that the reason a runner almost beats something out is because the fielder is taking his time because he has the time. If it were a faster runner or if the runner wasn't jogging, the fielder would just get rid of the ball quicker and that same runner would still "almost" beat out the play.

It’s programmed that if the outcome of the play is a routine out, the runner will sometimes jog to 1st. This was mentioned in a pre-release stream a few years ago (TS17 possibly?) and it was done to make the player models behave more realistically in a routine out situation.

Does this also happen when playing online? I’d be interested to know if a routine out was botched by a player using button accuracy, what would happen with the animation.

It doesn’t always make sense, though. On dropped third strikes, my 45-speed catcher in full gear will routinely corral the ball and then run down and tag out a 75-speed hitter moseying his way up the line. Sometimes I will even intentionally run around the batter to beat them to the first base bag.
