I did something a few minutes ago which I didn't think was possible in the game unless the opponent screwed up somehow. I stole home with Ty Cobb and beat the tag to the plate.

It was close, but my opponent had been ignoring baserunners for most of the game, so I got a 4- or 5-step lead from third (whatever is the maximum) and took off as soon as the pitcher moved. The pitch was a change-up in the high 80s.

Sidenote: in my experience, Cobb is by far the fastest player in the game. Agree?

Wow. I think about this from time to time. Primarily "Good thing it's basically impossible to steal home...." Guess you proved it's possible.

I always feel like Cobb and Brock can beat anyone, anywhere, any time.

I've never seen a clean steal of home, but bad animations make it very easy, if you move your catcher at all, he won't tag the runner. I lost a couple games like that before I learned to just never move the catcher

Happened to me once because I was playing a low rated player and never thought in a million years he'd try it and well it worked. Obviously don't try it a lot but it's worked at least 10 times but I would still be stuck on Rivera showdown moment or whatever it was if I never done it v cpu lol

If your opponent did nothing you would have been out...But sometimes when people try to manually move the catcher to apply the tag - The catcher completely misses the runner.

My opponent did nothing but receive the pitch. Cobb simply beat the tag to the plate.

I am convinced that the primary factor was that Cobb was likely halfway down the line before he started sprinting for the plate.

Very interesting...I’ll have to give this a shot next time to see for myself. Thanks for sharing.

I have had it happen to me several times with my catcher standing at home plate waiting with the ball and the runner gets called safe. It is another flaw designed into the game. No way would the catcher be there waiting before the runner even gets there and not make the tag.

I did it once in the 3 steals in a game mission for the Jackie Robinson program
