I’m gonna keep this short cuz the video speaks for itself, but [censored] like this makes the hitting so frustrating, especially on legend. Idk how I could’ve hit this ball any better. Should’ve been “early” ig. This has been happening a lot lately too.
-
Even on the lower difficulties it happens. Been playing the event to grind to 40 wins at least and I’ve had some horrible swings be tanks and some great swings just be weak liners or flyouts.
-
Everybody knows Foxx has no power. Lol

True. Ig there’s just too much randomness with the hitting across the board.

Hey I’ll take that over how I lost a game yesterday. Walk off in the park homerun by yellich. My opponent takes a late swing, bounces off the left field wall. Cobb and griffey act like the ball has a disease and don’t pick it up tell he is at 3rd. Just another reason the games is so much fun.

I respect you a great deal Mitch, as you are one of the best players on these forums. I have no problem with this however. The pitch location was down and away outside of the strike zone(although not by much). Good pitching input and Pitch location have to matter too IMO. Almost every WS player is already hitting .350 with the top players approaching .500. I agree this game has its faults, but that is more based on inconsistency rather than actual poor gameplay IMO. The reason we have problems with this game every year is because the community can't agree on what we actually want. 90 percent of the community want a baseball game while the top players, content creators, and kids that believe every word that the contents creators say want a batting practice simulator. SDS tries to please both crowds and that's how we end up with a product such as this game. I think 17-15 games at Shippett on HOF and even Legend are much more a a problem for a BASEBALL game than you not getting a hit on this particular pitch. Looking at the ERA's on the top of the leaderboard is just sad IMO.

The randomness is flaming me out, honestly my patience is running out especially since there's so many better games I've been playing recently. Might just call it a year. (Famous last words...more like c u tomorrow amirite)

The ERA’s are high bc it’s way to easy to square the ball up on HOF, pitching location is awful, and there are way too many foul balls and check swings. Top players are gonna hit like crazy, unless they make the game significantly harder, which would [censored] off the casuals, or significantly more hitting RNG, which would [censored] off everyone.
That pitch was right on the black, probably would’ve run me up. Should I be punished just bc it was a “good pitch”? I don’t think so. I got my pci to that good pitch perfectly and drove it the other way. Should be a no doubter with that input. I don’t think hitting exit velos should be broken just so they can artificially lower ERA’s to hide how bad the pitching is.

That's the simple truth, honestly can end all arguments with that.

Hitting was harder in 16 and 17 and their weren't nearly as many complaints. Sure there was bunt cheese in 16 and just late be great+topspin in 17 but other than that pitching was in a very good state and had overall better gameplay. I have no issue with them making hitting harder. Some might, but its better that hitting is harder to have a baseball game. IDK. I just think being up by 7 and already scoring 13 runs and complaining about not hitting a HR on what is a very rare good pitch isn't a great look IMO. It sure makes it seem like you want every squared up pitch to be a HR and you want to score 25 runs a game, which is just a batting practice simulator, not a baseball game. I'm against RNG, but making hitting harder is the ONLY way to not have RNG. I'm not a casual by any means but the majority of this community are casuals. Fixing pitching would make this game alot better IMO. Hitting would be fine as it is if they either A. Increase pitch speeds across the board, which I agree would [censored] off casuals. B. The outer PCI needs a major overhaul. Far to easy to foul off pitches. I think pretty much everyone can agree on that. C. The PCI needs to go back to only be able to be in the strike zone like it used to be. There is no excuse for a pitch outside the zone being able to be fouled off or make solid contact. It should be a swinging strike or weak contact every single time. This game is very close to being good, but what happened in your clip isn't even close to being one of the biggest issues in the game, it's far from it.

The guy put the barrel right on it. If it wasn’t a homer, it should have been a liner in the gap. Because the pitch was down/away and ball was in middle of PCI. The game is too laughable at this point with the randomness of pitching, hitting, and fielding.

Idgaf whether you think it’s a good look lol. I don’t care what the score is. I have a problem with that not being rewarded but having 2 early home runs launched 430+ earlier in the game. And yeah I think achieving near perfect input with the pci and having it come off the bat weak is a major issue. In legend games this is happening quite a few times a game and that can make a big difference in close games, especially in key situations.
I didn’t play 16, but I certainly don’t think the hitting in 17 was harder. Def wasn’t on legend imo, which is what I play the majority of my games on. It might have been harder on AS, but again most casuals would complain if they made the hitting more challenging.
The pitching was better and obv needs a major overhaul in 21. But that’s a separate issue. Imo you shouldn’t nerf my GREAT swings on legend bc the pitching is bad. I don’t have an issue with lineouts, but I do have a big issue with balls coming off weak on center pci placement.

Maybe you should just get better at the game.

A pitch in a good spot doesn't all of a sudden make your bat weaker. The reward of throwing a good pitch is that it is harder for the hitter to get a good swing on it but at the end of the day once that pitch leaves the pitcher's hand it's all on the batter. It doesn't matter if the pitch is right down the middle or on the black, if you put a good swing on it and barrel it up, it's going to come off the bat nicely.

It's just bad optics when you can have consistently worse PCI placement but early timing and have better contact results and exit velocities. That's the issue being pointed out.
What are we the user supposed to be doing? General consensus would tell you that getting perfect input should be the intended goal by the user. I would argue that the game in it's current state you are better to be early side of good and PCI placement is less important. Why introduce a new layer to the feedback system to strive for, but design the gameplay that consistently rewards you less for being close to perfect then if you are early?
It's much easier to consistently be early then it is to be perfect. The game is enabling poor user input for the sake of better exit velocity.
AS is the absolute worse experience I've had in a long time. You can't throw fastballs with everyone swinging early intentionally. You can't consistently place your offspeed pitches either. It's a constant repeat of foul balls until something gets yanked hard finally. You need a sinker and a slower cutter or slider. Even then, it's still a [censored] shoot.
