This is 100% okay. If your opponent will flat out give you that step there's no reason not to take it. It's the people who continually want the step and get mad when it's not conceded that irk me.

Same, ill throw over 100 times if I have to. Some people get cocky the first couple times and don't expect it, I've actually picked off a decent number of runners because they try to take 2 steps.
So I may be mistaken, but don't pick off attempts drain stamina? I for some reason feel like did, and just assume they still do.

I don't blame you. In my opinion they are looking for an advantage. If I refuse to give it to them and they get upset then they're just being entitled. Why should i give my opponent a free advantage?

I love when people take the extra step, pickups are ridiculously over-powered. I can't even begin to guess how many guys I've picked off this year, especially from 2B. Nothing jacks up your opponents head space more than a rally-killing pickoff.

They do not drain stamina. I think that’s a myth created by people that get leads! lol

2B is a gimme pickoff. But if they haven’t hit steal, it’s near impossible to pick the guy at first when he gets the one step lead. Which makes that game where they try to break you down to letting them do it so frustrating and annoying.

If they get that extra step lead - Keep throwing to first. You will eventually get the animation & get them out. Even if it’s an elite base stealer like Henderson or Cobb.

For some reason when they take multiple steps it initiates the throw meter which leads to you throwing it away.....they are trying to bait you knowing this will happen....pause, switch to buttons from button accuracy, than when they do it you won’t have that meter and they are dead to right..... than switch back to button accuracy
I do this all the time and get rage quits....

In my opinion pickoffs are broken in this game. Yes, you can pick someone off, but I feel you're more likely to either throw it away, or deplete your energy before you succeed.
If someone takes an extra step I simply step off. Every time. If they continue to take the step, I will wait 5 seconds then select my pitch, let my pitcher come to a complete set and wait 5 seconds again before stepping off. It usually only takes a couple times before my opponent gets the hint.
On occasion, I've had them pause and msg me to "throw the ****ing ball" which usually prompts a back and forth of me telling them as soon as they stop taking the step I'll pitch.
Am I the only one who flat out refuses to let these entitled people have the extra step advantage? I'm undefeated in these little battles (sometimes ashamedly)
I love those “throw the ball” messages. So I’m supposed to let you take the extra step? Get more of an advantage when pickoffs are broken? Screw that buddy. Moving the game along is all up to you. Just quit taking the extra step. Otherwise, I can step off all day.

Sometimes the sneaky pickoff with a lefty (holding down the pick off button) will cause them to run to second. If you can get them in the rundown, you’re good.

No problem with this at all, gotta make sure folks are paying attention and watching 1st/2nd (even 3rd). To that end, it doesn't even bother me if my opponent dances back and forth, it's a strategy to keep me focused on the bases instead of the batter; or if folks try and time a late extra step after I come set and right as I'm about to pitch - these are both the game within the game and usually adjustments are made back and forth.
It's the person just taking a lead over and over to see if they can outlast me stepping off and messaging me (as already mentioned) "throw the ****ing ball" that take the fun out of the game. I'm pretty patient so I can usually outlast it and even usually win because I've noticed folks that rely on this aren't the best players, but it makes me want to play another video game or go do something else when that game is over.
It’s amazing all the players who do this. If you go look at their stats after the game, are stealing at less than a 75% clip. Statistically, they’re not even breaking even and doing themselves more harm than good. But they keep doing it, just cause they can, not because they should.

Your nicer than me...I put the controller in one hand, finger on L1....I let the cpu pick my pitch....takes longer....and then press L1..then I count to see which opponent figures it out....I had one stop after 2.....clever girl

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong when stealing? No matter how perfect of a release i get with L2, the runner is always delayed before he runs. The only way I can steal is if I release L2 a good half second before they start there throwing motion. 9 times out of 10, it's either a really bad jump or I run before he starts the throwing motion.
Is it really just lag from my TV?

They definitely need to make pickoffs more viable when an extra lead is taken.
That said (OP or anyone else) do you step off every time your opponent takes a step if your defender is not holding him on? This is what irks me - you can easily go into shifts and have your defender hold at the base if you really care so much. Otherwise I’m going to take the step since I can see when you’re going to pickoff and can always get back in time.

Strategy people.
I like to take a one step lead at least a few times.
Usually I have no plans to steal, but I want to make sure my opponent sees that I just might, especially with a runner on first with higher speed. If they throw over more than 3 times though, I'll not take that 1st step. However, I may take a step again and then quickly step back to the normal leadoff.
The idea is to get their attention on that runner and hopefully slide step one too many times and throw a meatball or at the very least have to alter their pitching strategy.
I notice this only works for 1st base. If you try to take leadoff at second you can get picked very easily with a one step lead - even with a runner with a high stealing attribute and if you quickly get back to the base. (Note with two outs, the SS or 2nd base arent as close to the bag though so you can safely take that one step lead.)
