My character is a 19 year old rookie on a Padre team that just won a pennant. That in itself is troublesome as he is the starting second baseman. We are currently playing the Brewers. Game two of the series ended when Christian Yelich tried a drag bunt to get on base. Really??? In game three Manny Machado sacrifice bunted with one out and my character on second after hitting a double. REALLY?!?!? Maybe I don’t know as much about baseball as I think because I don’t believe either play would happen in reality. I’m dumbfounded at some of the “baseball” I see in this game.

    Sorry you feel that way.

I have posted about this before. I have seen in this game Miguel Cabrera, Luke Voight, Giancarlo Stanton all try a drag bunt for a hit. Obviously none of them succeeded. I have said for quite some time that the developers and programmers of this game lack some basic baseball knowledge. Like pitch outs, in real baseball I will see one maybe once a season but in this game it happens all the time.

There’s a good chance this happens in RTTS to give fielding opportunities on a variety of plays. As an RTTS catcher, my player too sees the most ridiculous steal attempts and bunt attempts also. Many slow players caught stealing to end innings, bunt attempts on 0-2 counts... It’s not that the devs don’t know the game, it’s just to give actual fielding opportunities to make the game more interesting.

I’m with you, I much prefer realistic plays.

You ever had three batters in a ROW strike out and leave you on third base? It's the story of my player's life. And he's on the Braves.

The baseball IQ in this game is incredibly low. The bunting by power hitters, the unbeatable run downs, the amount of throws that fielders attempt that players in real life never would, etc. shows how far the show really has to go before it’s truly “realistic.”

It’s taken a step backwards from realism in RTTS plays to give the user more play opportunities. Never used to see plays like this, but then again, never played a catcher. Only all other infielders and pitchers and outfielders.
