NEW TV RUINED MY GAME!!!!

What kind of tv did you get?
-
TCL 6 Series 65", has a gaming mode that reduces the response time to about 10 ms but I'm honestly thinking about turning it off.
I def see why I've been so [censored] all these years playing on that old Samsung, high inside fastball you almost had to hit swing as the pitch was being released.

I had a similar issue towards the end of 17's lifecycle. I was playing on an old 37" 720p Toshiba POS that I got in college and upgraded to a new 65" Sony Bravia. Definitely not as good as a monitor, but much better than what I was using so I was early on everything. You should definitely leave it in game mode, even if you're early on all the pitches right now. Take the time needed to adjust as it will give you more time to recognize the pitch in the long run. I would recommend the event that is coming out today. It's on HOF which is higher pitch speed, and if you lose it won't impact your rating. It will be a good way to adjust to the new timing.

10ms Response time or input lag? Whatever it is, if you have more time to recognize the pitch, that can’t be a bad thing. You might also want to check what resolution your tv handles the fastest. Rtings.com should tell you what you need to know.

I got a new TV earlier this year and had to find the right settings and reprogram my brain a little.
10ms is actually really good for a 4k TV. To get lower you have to go with a monitor.

Do you play on a PS4 pro or the non 4K one? I wonder if the input lag is impacted depending on whether or not the game is played on a PS4 pro vs the regular PS4 while using a 4K tv.

4k with PS4 Pro. I had to make sure it was in game mode, then turn off Motion Interpolation and make sure UHD color was on.

I just recently switched the game to 2160 because the tv and the pro should handle native resolutions better so that the input lag would be as low as possible. At first, the game play wasn’t as smooth, but now I don’t notice any lack of fluidity in the motion and my perception is that the input seems lower.

When i played with a monitor I started making WS consistently. That is why when people make the argument about how their skill should get them to win more i scoff. Monitors and internet connection impact results as much as skill
-
I actually didn't take long to adjust and now i'm kicking myself for not doing this sooner, WS here I come.
OMG is it easy when you aren't having to swing before the pitcher throws the ball lol, literally was what I had to do if it was an inside fastball before now I actually have to tell myself to wait for it.

Just picked up a new TV for Xmas, yes I still play on a TV but HOLY S**T is it different.
Went from god knows what response time to about 10 ms and it is almost unplayable I'm so early on everything idk what to do, even tried practicing on the two higher difficulty levels to see if my timing would be more accurate there but still so early.
Pretty much I've been playing at such a disadvantage for all these years and just thought I was a shitty player, can't wait to get this down and hopefully finally make WS.
You have to switch the TV viewing to game mode. It’ll fix all of your lag issues.

Turn on game mode, it will lower the response time ... most TV’s have that.. It might degrade the graphics a little but oh well, gameplay is number one

So, besides game mode, what modifications do you guys make to TV and PS4 for best gameplay?

So I recently heard that turning off the audio sync on the tv is helpful in reducing lag. I also heard that, if you have a smart tv, that turning off auto updates on apps is also helpful.
