Yes, and most likely back in Detroit.
I kinda thought the same thing. Either he will just retire or come back for one more in Detroit. Maybe by 2022 they can have something going on but i doubt it. Then again AJ Hinch is there now.

It's where A.J Hinch is now and Verlander has a great baseball relationship with him plus he would be able to anchor a very talented young Tiger team lead by Mize who could be a potential future Cy Young candidate and then after retirement in a few years take on coaching duties somewhere in the orginization. I think it's the perfect fit.

Detroit pitchers are about to get a big lesson in spin rate lol. Forget the sign stealing. Spin rate is the biggest advantage Astros have had. Rest of the league is starting to catch on, but they led the way for sure.

Didn’t need internet
I am a member of SABR on the 19th century committee. Sadly knew that Information offhand. Also, the Keokuk “Westerns” have been mentioned a bit lately in regard to the Field of Dreams game rescheduled for Iowa next year. Took a chance that there were no alternate site/Sunday special games played before Keokuk or Kansas City.
