But to me, it sounds good:

Right now we’re playing 1 on 1 games online. What if there was a way that we could team up and play people 2-on-2 (alternate at-bats, watch your partner bat while you’re on deck), or 3-on-3 and so on... much of the way you can in NBA2K and other games, which would increase comraderie and could decrease toxicity because there would be less anonymity and you’re exposed to the community more.

Could be a horrible idea, but I’ve had worse ones.

X-on-X works in NBA (and NFL) because each player does something on every single play.

Baseball isn't built like that. Neither should the video game that represents it.

Dck lol ... I see your point. What, you’ve never wanted a caddy during your at-bats?

    3v3.

    P1 OF
    P2 IF
    P3 C and P

P3 is team captain and handles all bullpen and pinch run/hit.

And then in terms of batting, I don’t know about anyone else, but my teammates’ at-bats would definitely interest me to watch.

Especially if you’re all on the mic together.

I’ve wanted a co-op game mode for a long time. I’d even be interested in a 9v9 even though I wouldn’t be active most of the game.

It wouldn’t make the toxicity go away. Good players will team up with another good players, destroy lower skilled players and there‘s a high chance that ppl on the losing end will become toxic in game, in the messages, etc... just like NBA 2K

You could just implement a rating system.

Well, queues for high rated players will be long and then SDS will have to find a way to balance it, the only way I can think of is to allow the matchmaking for those players with lower rated players.

Don’t get me wrong, it would be awesome to have the feature, but how many of you guys would prefer to have me as a teammate and my .240 AVG instead of guys like Mitch who can actually hit? The only way I see this working is in the casual gaming section

I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t have a simple MMR system like CounterStrike or RocketLeague. Queues for high rates players could be long, but it all depends on the popularity of the mode.

The biggest issue is the servers imo. It’s hard enough not to disconnect in a 1v1. 3v3 or 9v9 would be a nightmare if SDS doesn’t address the servers before implementing a mode like this.

I’ve thought about this. Alternating turns at bat, have one player pitch while the other catches (and calls the game for the pitcher) and fields. Could have doubles leagues or events. Could be a lot of fun

Back in the day, one of the EA Triple Play games let you play co-op, IF, OF, alternating ABs - this was local co-op on the couch... 🙂

Interesting idea until you load the bases and watch your friends pop up or strike out and score no runs. Maybe with 2 players, 1 pitches and 1 fields and you alternate at bats per inning instead of batter.

@writetoshawn I have thought about that. I was thinking, if the MLB season got cancelled:
What if all 9 players played their own positions! I thought that would be cool, but I knew it would never happen. I am on the side of saying: I think it would be fun, but if it happened, it would need it's own special mode. BUT: I am not sure if I would want to play it, just watch it. 🙂

I think it would be a lot of fun. Maybe just 2v2 to start and whether it was casual or competitive wouldn't really deter me either way. I have a few friends that are going to be playing for the first time this year and it would be a lot of fun to be able to play together. Not to mention if I've grinded a really good team and they haven't then we could use my roster and they'd get to try out players they haven't used before and vice versa. I don't know how popular it would be, but more co-op type modes like this or online seasons are always fun to me.
