It's a 500 stub entry fee and the last mission on it's own gives you 1K.

Says 1K entry fee on my screen
500 hundred for the Inning Program Showdown.
1,000 for the division showdowns. It appears you have to at least beat the first boss to break even and make a slight profit.

It's not a point of whether I can beat it or not. Just found it odd you have to gamble to try and earn program stars.

They could have made it no entrance fee and no rewards unless u finish. Better the way it is imo

"having to"
Can you see the flaw in your argument yet?

You have to pay the stubs to try to earn those stars, there's no flaw in that logic. I get your going the "you don't have too play it" route. I'm also not arguing against it.
I just found it odd that there was an entry fee to do the 1st inning Showdown for Program Stars.

The idea behind it with place stubs on the line is that the can make rewards better because there is risk. This system is so much better then what's come before. I have failed the 1st boss twice now and I am ok with it as the single players stuff has tension to it it's not just Vs CPU on Rookie. They nail this now just a matter of seeing where they take it

I get it for the other Showdown modes. So far the starter is free, the 1st inning is 500, and the 6 for each division are a 1,000.

For me the issue is not the fee but the difficulty...
-
Failed my first attempt on the first boss. This is not a good way for players to get Program Points...Pure RNG, on top of random moment encounters AND costing us Stubs to attempt.
-
You have to pay stubs for the opportunity to earn program stars now interesting new feature/implementation. I guess the way it was last year was too easy ? Like doing missions and grinding games .
-
I’m ashamed how many tries it took me to beat the 1st inning one lol....
