Perhaps if the 2021 season goes bad for them, but I think the Mets are primed to make moves to compete now with new ownership maybe bringing in stubs to spend and a likely depressed free agent market.

No chance they trade him without the season facing apart. They have a good offense and with a new owner ready to spend money if they add another decent starter then they have Stroman as possibly a 3rd or 4th starter, not too bad I would say. If they can add a good catcher, a center fielder and some bullpen arms I see them competing this year.
