So I've been playing a good chunk of the day and just having horrible luck. My swing timing has been right on but I've had a bunch of hard hit outs or just balls inexplicably coming off the bat with no exit velo. It's been so frustrating to have "good" swing timing and not be rewarded.

Fast forward to my most recent game and I finally cracked the code! Turns out timing your swing well is for suckers. Just scored 10 runs in the first off of THREE "early" swing HRs and a 2-out "early" swing RBI single by my pitcher.

I literally messaged the guy I was playing and apologised lol. This game is such a joke.

There is a little more to it then swing timing. There is a little thing called "contact" too. You have to make contact with the ball or your timing dont mean didly. Not saying you arent, but it was funny how all you mentioned was swing timing and never mentioned how well you were hitting the ball. If the ball is center PCI and timing is right then that is something to complain about. I get good swing timing all the time but cant hit for jack. Not the games fault, it is my fault for not swinging the bat right.

it amuses me to no end that you (and many others) get so upset over such an ambiguous word.
"Early" - i was " early" to work once and they made me wait the 15 seconds because it had to hit the hour before i clocked in.
i was "early" for my doctors appointment and had to sit in that very uncomfortable chair for 25 minutes for my appt time.
i took their advice and showed up "early" for my flight and had to sit in the waiting area for 2 hours till it was time to board.

works for " late " too.
i got caught in traffic and was "late" for work- i got in 2 minutes "late"
i overslept and was " late" for work, thought they were gonna fire me, it was 3 hours after i shoulda been there.

Lol, I just gave up a double with the bases loaded on a very late swing, the pitch was out of the strike zone. It was perfectly placed down the 3rd base line

You know, I was really looking forward to this post. I too, have been trying to crack the code on hitting. I excitedly clicked on the link.

I carefully read the various tips. They seem counterintuitive. For example, I've always tried to get "Perfect" contact with "on-time" swings. Now don't get me wrong. I don't always get Perfect contact. In fact, only two or three times a game. I tried this new strategy of swinging early and late on purpose with albeit mixed results. Sometimes I got hits and sometimes I didn't.

In summary, I would rate this post as "somewhat misleading". I really don't think he cracked the code at all.

Try to stay on the early side of good. Perfect isn't a realistic expectation to achieve with any consistency. Exit velos are consistently higher on swings that are on the early side of good.

Get your timing right, the PCI just has to be in the general area of the contact zone.

I agree with you 100% (although I meant my response as a little "tongue-in-cheek"). Thanks!

Just like real life baseball! Don’t put the bat on the ball, just be slightly early and you’ll magically succeed. I wondered how Arozerena had such a good stretch this postseason. Guess he cracked the code too.

I wouldn't think so,the game is programmed around it.

To do it you'd have to make a lot of changes to the game. Pitch speeds and movement would need adjustments among other things.

Youtube videos of the Japanese game Pro Yakku Spirits to get an idea of what that would look like. I think it's better the way SDS does it.
